I'm 21 weeks along with a baby boy and experiencing some Braxton hicks like crazy! I also have a very active little guy in there which could be the main cause of them. Anyone else experiencing Braxton hicks?!
Braxton hicks are normal throughout pregnancy, but you should call your dr and ask for guidelines about how much is too much. Also, do a little googling and you'll find more info.
Yes, they worried me at first but my midwife said they are normal. She advised me to think about whether I have had a snack lately or if I have been drinking enough water when they're happening more frequently. I drink a gallon of water per day and it seems to help.
Well I house cleaned all day yesterday and wore myself out so I'm assuming that was the spark of it cause they started after I sat down to relax for the night!
Are you sure that they are Braxton Hicks? It is not unusual to have BH this early, but it is also common to have RLP and other cramping as the uterus grows. Either way, I think both RLP and BH are best dealt with by drinking plenty of water and changing positions.
I get cramps fairly often. I just consider it growing pains. I am pretty sure that they are not contractions.
I have been having cramping on/ off for about a week. Consulted doc but he's not concerned at this point. He said tummy is growing with baby so it's normal to feel a little stretches, cramping here and there. They tend to calm down when resting or not really active.
I have been having them since 18 weeks. With each week they get more noticable. If I start having a lot I just drink a lot of water and that usually makes them stop.
I had some kind of crazy episode last night... Felt like a long, permanent contraction with waves of stronger ones. I never experienced that with my first pregnancy (that I can recall). I drank water and breathed through it until it eventually went away, but bled more through the night (I've been spotting and bleeding for three weeks now). Wtf. It does seem as though water helps!
I never noticed Braxton hicks with my son. I am sure I had them, but I have no recollection of thinking "oh, braxton hicks!".
But I also had cervical dilating contractions for 4 cm and had no idea either, so I may just be oblivious.
They aren't anything to worry about generally unless they go on for an extended period of time and start to act like labor contractions, from what I remember my midwife telling me.
I'm glad to see that other pregnant ladies are feeling this too and by the looks of it, some pretty early! I love that we can all share our experiences on here! I haven't felt any since that night but I've been relaxing a lot more now plus my doc has put me on sick leave which I'm not overly happy about cause I'm only 22 weeks! I'm used to working right up until baby is born! Sad part is I love what I do for a living but me and my baby are the important thing right now and if my doc is putting me on sick leave then its obviously for a good reason!

@ckwick... I hope you're talking to your doctor about all that. Long contractions and bleeding at this stage in the game is not a laughing matter. Call asap and don't give up until they tell you to come in to get looked at. You'd rather it be nothing then regret doing something if (God forbid) you have a more serious emergency later.
Thank you for this! I appreciate the push to check in with my midwife. I don't feel like they been too concerned- was put on pelvic rest, but since the heavier bleeding episode I had the first time, I put myself on modified bedrest. I do wish they'd look into this more thoroughly. I plan to call again on Monday since I believe they're closed on weekends. I haven't spoken with my midwife after the heavy bleeding due to an issue with my insurance, but that's squared away so will call. I feel like this is out of the ordinary myself, so it's nice to hear someone else does too, as they seem so nonchalant about it all.
Again, thank you for this note! Hope things are well with you!
Guidelines my doctor said (I called and asked last week because I never had Braxton Hicks with DS) was if I have 5 in an hour, or if they seem to be falling into a pattern, or if they are very intense, I'm supposed to get my butt to L&D immediately.
Re: Braxton hicks.... Anyone?!
Water and rest help them to chill out.

Everything seems "more" this pregnancy. Braxton Hicks, RLP is more frequent, heartburn started earlier and is more frequent, etc.
