Disney Fun...

So my baby brother and his fiancée have decided to get married at Disney World next June.  I am super excited for them but how hard is it going to be for me to travel and be at Disney with a baby around 8/9 months?

  • It sounds like it is never *easy* to travel with baby, BUT Disney sounds like such a perfect place to take your sweetie.  I agree with PP that it will be magical to see LO's face light up when meeting characters and going on the child friendly rides like "It's a Small World."  I am already jealous!  I think you'll just need to adjust by taking more breaks through the day and possibly go back to the hotel for naptime. :)
  • Thanks ladies. All of this information helps ease my mind and i will be sure to pass on to DH he is less than thrilled about the trip
  • We traveled when DD was 9 months old and it wasn't too bad. It's a good age, but just be prepared with plenty of snacks and activities if you are traveling far! DD cried the whole flight home from Texas and DH and I were beside ourselves. So, give yourself lots of grace and don't feel horrible if things don't go according to plan!

  • I traveled with my ds when he was only a few months old and I just wore him in a carrier in the airport and on the plane. They wouldn't let me have him strapped to me for take off and landing, so I just left him in the carrier and took it off of me. I took a few new toys to keep him entertained. I got a bag at BRU to put his car seat in and checked it. The bag got torn up but his seat was fine. I think the bag was less than $20.
  • Traveling could go either way. Disney however is great at accommodating babies. They do baby-switch passes so you can ride whatever you want and have baby stations in the parks, even a sitting service ( outsourced) they reccommend .

  • Consider renting someone's Disney Vacation Club points (you can online, but especially if you know someone). You'll get a suite with a full kitchen and washer/dryer (I think you can get them without points but way more expensive). Makes traveling with kids so much nicer.

If I was going to go anywhere with a little kid, that's one of the best. If you stay on property you can take the magical express to your hotel, disney transportation around the parks, and they are all so used to little ones.

Personally, I wouldn't bring my own stroller. Check online - there are places that rent city minis and others and it keeps you from worrying about your stroller getting mistaken for someone else's or worse. Plus it's one less thing to haul through the airport.

I will have to check that out!  Washer and Dryer would be glorious with a small kid!
There is a Disney Board on here if you want some more input, the ladies over there are great
I will have to check that out.  We still have a long time before we go but I can use all the tips and pointers I can get

  • We went for a day with my ILs when my son was 13 months and it wasn't hard at all. It actually would have been easier when he was 8/9 months bc he slept in the stroller more then and he wasn't as mobile. We were able to take him on a ton of rides. Just plan for plenty of time to stop at the baby center for feedings and diaper changes.
