3rd Trimester

Raspberry Leaf Tea?

Anyone drinking raspberry leaf tea? I am 36 weeks and just picked some up today. My first labor was 40+ hours and I cannot imagine going through that this time around! Has anyone found it helpful for labor and delivery, and is 36 weeks safe to drink it?

I drank it with my first and my labor was 46 hours long. I didn't bother drinking it the second time and my labor was 5 hours. It didn't do anything for me, but it doesn't hurt to try. Yes, you can drink it now. It's not a labor inducer, just a uterus strengthener.

  • I have been drinking it religiously since 30 weeks but I am a FTM so no idea whether it will or won't help. @washingtonqueen is totally right -- doesn't induce only strengthens and tones the uterus. But people swear by it. I have people in my birth class who are drinking like quarts of the stuff. I just have a cup or two of earth mama's third tri preggers tea a day.

  • I drank it with both. First labor was 4 hours, & second was 14.

  • I drank it with my first around 38w. I had lots of false runs to L&D but ended up being induced in the end. My induction was short.
  • I've been drinking it since 36 weeks. My first labor was only 7 hours with 1 hour of pushing. So we'll see what happens this time around.
  • I have been drinking it throughout pregnancy, it is something my midwife has all of her clients do. I figure it can't hurt and it is really refreshing when iced. Especially if you mix with other herbal teas like mint and nettles.

First of all, if has to be red raspberry leaf tea. Not just red raspberry.
I did drink it through my pregnancy and in particular in the last trimester. I can't say for sure that was what did it, but I did have an easy and fast labor. I was induced at 41 weeks and had her in 6.5 hours.

  • I drank red raspberry leaf when I was trying to conceive then stopped during my pregnancy. I was afraid of the side effects during. I didn't notice a difference in labor but I won't be taking it this time around.
  • I drank it with both pregnancies. My first I started at the beginning of 3rd Tri and drank 1 cup a day. My labor lasted 15 hours. With my second I drank 2 cups a day in 2nd Tri, 3 cups in 3rd Tri, and 4 cups a day after 36 weeks. My labor was 7 hours.

I can't say for sure but I felt like it helped my contractions to be strong and consistent during labor. I also think it helped my uterus contract back down PP.
  • Update:  Drank big batches of it this time and my labor was almost exactly 4 hours.
  • I started taking the capsules about 3 days ago and so far no change in frequency or strength of contractions

@FabulousMrs.P‌ so is ordering red raspberry leaves in bulk and them brewing them an acceptable option? I think this is a silly question but I don't want to purchase the wrong thing.
I've been back and forth between this option and just ordering third tri tea, it's just so expensive when you drink a lot of it!

  • I drank a cup or two in my 3rd tri with DS and after induction labor lasted 6 hrs. I planned on drinking it with this one but I just got discharged after PTL and I'm afraid to do anything now (I'm 30+2).
