I guess I'll start again...

Welcome to this week’s Hypnobabies and Hypnobirthing check-in! Quite a few ladies expressed an interest in doing a weekly check-in on Thursdays. Thanks to @elbug for getting this weekly check-in started! Anyone can feel free to start this thread every Thursday.

1. Remind us: Which class are you taking & how are you taking the class - home study course vs in-person class?
2. What week of the course are you working on?
3. What challenges have you faced this week? Any concerns going forward?
4. What have you found most useful/helpful this week? Any tips for those of us who might be 1 or 2 weeks behind you?
5. Questions?

Re: Hypnobabies/Hypnobirthing Check In

  • 1. Remind us: Hypnobabies home study
    2. What week of the course are you working on? Week 4
    3. What challenges have you faced this week? Any concerns going forward? I love listening to the CDs and I do feel really relaxed/hypnotized, but when I do the finger drop practice, I don't feel instantly deeply relaxed. Especially with eyes open.
    4. What have you found most useful/helpful this week? I don't have anything new.
    5. Questions? Do you feel instantly relaxed? I feel like I need a good 15 minutes to be zoned inward.

I want to add, how many weeks are you all? I'm 35 weeks tmrw

    1. Remind us: Which class are you taking & how are you taking the class - home study course vs in-person class?

    Hyponbabies home study course

    2. What week of the course are you working on?
I've done the reading through week 4 but haven't listened to the week 4 tracks yet.

    3. What challenges have you faced this week? Any concerns going forward?
I usually fall asleep when I listen to them. Legit asleep, not "you may think you're falling asleep, but you're probably not." Mostly because I usually listen to them at bedtime because it's impossible to find another time during the week. I also don't practice the figure drop technique nearly enough. I plan to step up my game at 35 weeks (a week from today).

    4. What have you found most useful/helpful this week? Any tips for those of us who might be 1 or 2 weeks behind you?
    Can't think of anything :(

    5. Questions?
Any good ideas for remembering to practice the finger drop technique during the day? When have you found to be a good time to do this?

    I'm 34 weeks today.

Can I get added to this list please?

    1. Remind us: Which class are you taking & how are you taking the class - home study course vs in-person class? Hypnobabies Homestudy

    2. What week of the course are you working on? Week three

    3. What challenges have you faced this week? Any concerns going forward? I'm struggling to remember to do the finger drop practices, and I certainly can't just "turn off" as quickly as dropping a finger. Hoping there is some secret that I'll learn in a later week or something to make it feel more relaxing.

    4. What have you found most useful/helpful this week? Any tips for those of us who might be 1 or 2 weeks behind you? I'm really loving the naps/resting time I get each day, but struggle to find the quiet time for it. With two kids, a sister staying with me, my husband and the dog it is almost impossible to get a quiet moment.

    5. Questions? For anyone having frequent BH/actual contractions, are you practicing realizing through those? I get them pretty frequently and they are painful, and can't relax my way through them. Makes me nervous for the real thing, like I won't be able to relax for those either!

ETA: I'm 31 weeks this week.

    @dovesanddragons I've added you! :)

I've had some discomfort (not sure if it's BH or not) and I always kinda panic. I'm hoping that even if I panic at first when it's game time I can calm down by listening to the CDs.

@noycela I've been trying to practice the finger drop tech. before and after listening to a CD (the affirmations or the study CD), but I've been really bad about doing it!

  • 1. Remind us: Which class are you taking & how are you taking the class - home study course vs in-person class?

    Hypnobabies Home Study

    2. What week of the course are you working on?

    Week 5

    3. What challenges have you faced this week? Any concerns going forward?

My skin has been super itchy this week, so it's been difficult staying still (much less staying "deeply relaxed"). I'm also not practicing the finger drop very much - my goal is to ramp that up during the Maintenance phase.

    4. What have you found most useful/helpful this week? Any tips for those of us who might be 1 or 2 weeks behind you?

    Nothing I can think of.

    5. Questions?

    Not right now.
  • @Elbug my baby is still doing flips (35 weeks tmrw). He had hicups yesterday and I could feel them up high :( It had me a little disappointed, but hopefully we still have time for them to get in position.

@workmm01 - try to not get held up on where you feel hiccups.  My babe's breech and I still feel them low in my pelvis.  Their entire torso jerks a little when they hiccup so its really hard to tell if what youre feeling is head of butt.  Try feeling the opposite direction from the obvious spot with your hand and I bet you'll feel hiccups there also.  Mine are primary low but I can also feel a slight jerk up high.
I'll try that next time! Thanks :)

  • noycela I mentioned this last week.  I found that if I do it before I drive and after I arrive somewhere in my car, I can get them in!

    Hypnobabies class
    2. What week of the course are you working on?
    Week 4
    3. What challenges have you faced this week? Any concerns going forward?
I really don't want to get up while practicing my "eye open" finger drops.  I'd rather stay laying down.  I've started with the "Peace"queue and I think its going okay.
    4. What have you found most useful/helpful this week? Any tips for those of us who might be 1 or 2 weeks behind you? For everyone doubting or not feeling confident, our instructor says it's important to overcome those fears and feelings.  You have to believe you are doing things correctly.  Many women won't "feel" different while practicing the finger drop, etc., but it's important to repeat the mantras and really focus on doing the exercises.

My challenge and concern is my baby is breech.  I'm having a hard time listening to affirmations since I'm not feeling 100% about whether or not I'll even get to attempt a vaginal delivery.  I need to trust my body and know that baby will flip if its safe and maybe theres a reason he's breech.  Either way, I'm stressing it a lot right now.  He flipped to breech at 32 weeks.  I'm seeing a chiro, starting acupuncture Monday, spinningbabies.com and even downloaded the hypnobabies breech script (which I've done twice now and will continue daily).

    5. Questions? nope, just butthurt over #3 above

    I'm 34w5d
Good luck getting your baby flipped! Another thing to consider trying is essential oils. I use doTERRA. A couple drops of peppermint oil on your upper abdomin is supposed to encourage baby to flip. I've also read using 5 drops of myrh with coconut oil and rubbing your belly in a circular motion while picturing your baby head down.

  • Hope nobody minds if I jump in! I mostly lurk around here but am on every day.

    1. Remind us: Which class are you taking & how are you taking the class - home study course vs in-person class?
    Hypnobabies home study

    2. What week of the course are you working on?
    2

    3. What challenges have you faced this week? Any concerns going forward?
I'm doing better fitting it in this week, the first week I did over two weeks because I just couldn't fit things in. It's still tough, especially because I do it in bed and then my husband wants to come to bed too and I can't focus with his snoring!

    4. What have you found most useful/helpful this week? Any tips for those of us who might be 1 or 2 weeks behind you?
Just sticking with what I am listening to and redirecting my thoughts when they wander.

    5. Questions?
Does anyone else struggle with their thoughts wandering while listening? I feel like I constantly have to remind myself to focus on what she is saying sometimes.

  • 1. Remind us: Hypnobabies home study
    2. What week of the course are you working on? Week 3
    3. What challenges have you faced this week? Hmmm just finding the time to listen but so far I think it's catching on.
    4. What have you found most useful/helpful this week? I wish I had something to add.
    5. Questions? Do you feel instantly relaxed? I am actually getting good at relaxing with the finger drop. It's definitely a marked difference from the week before.

    I'm not quite 32 weeks.
  • @emelee2 did you want to be added to the thread? Always in the begining my thoughts wander, but then I seem to get really focused. I try to count through my inhales and exhales breathing to stop my mind from wandering if it's really bad.
  • Could I also be added to the list? I'm very excited that there are other women who are doing this training!

    1. Remind us: Hypnobabies home study course
    2. What week of the course are you working on? Just started week 2 today
    3. What challenges have you faced this week? Any concerns going forward? Trying to trust that I am relaxed and in a hypnotic state
    4. What have you found most useful/helpful this week? Any tips for those of us who might be 1 or 2 weeks behind you? I just read over the reminders from week one this morning, and the part about how hypnosis feels different to everyone was really encouraging. Sometimes I feel light and deeply relaxed, other times I don't really feel anything at all. I'm having a hard time feeling/seeing/imagining the light flowing through and around my body. I also can't picture any "special place". I'm going to have to work on that more.
    5. Questions? Does anyone know of someone who has done this before and had success with it? I was watching some hypnobabies birth videos on youtube hoping to be encouraged.

  • @ColeyJ88 I will add you! I can picture the "light"moving around now, but I had to work on it for a while. I still have a hard time with a "special place" image. I don't have one go to image that is relaxing for me. I've been trying to use the nursery and spending time with baby in there as my special place.

@emelee2 - try to view those distractions as part of your course.  In labor there will be distractions and you'll have to learn over the next few weeks how to push them aside.  As time goes on you'll get better at ignoring them.  I used to get irrationally pissed when my H distracted me during week 1 & 2 but then I started viewing the distractions as part of my training and accepting them as part of the "typical noise" I would hear in the periphery.  Helped a lot.

Thank you that is really helpful!
