Mini rant over car seat

So my friend just posted a pic of her 4 month old baby in his new car seat, and he's forward facing!! I mean is she crazy he does not have the neck control to big sitting like that. Of course I said something, I don't normally like to say things about what other people do with their kids but he's way to young to be sitting like that. He is 20 lbs but just because he's chunky doesn't mean he has the neck control. Hello internal decapitation! She is coming to my house tomorrow so I will see what she says. I'm just hoping he was trying out the new seat sitting like that but I doubt it. Ok rant over

  • Sounds like a "oh, have learned sooooo much from the CSFTL group! Did you know that kids have to be over age 2 to FF? I never realized that prebaby!" type of comment is in the works.

and woah! Her arms must ache!

  • Yea I said they recommend 2 now but I know minimum is 1, just don't want to see him hurt if u get into an accident. Then added how cute and adorable he is, to make nice, although he is adorable and squishy

  • My friend has her LO FF and he's like 7 or 8 months, she turned him awhile ago and I tried to convince her otherwise but it didn't work. He's a strong, sturdy baby but it still makes me nervous. Then my other friend is turning her LO at 1 year but she's just so tiny I don't think it's a good idea. Most people think I'm crazy for still having LO RF but honestly safety first and when SO and I stop for ice cream he can't see!! I know that's horrible but we get to eat in peace.
  • I hate when I see this. I wish there was a law that they have to be rear facing for 1 year at least.

There is! 45 states have proper use laws, there are ZERO seats that allow ff before 1yr and most have a weight at height min as well. Otherwise the state laws are 1yr AND 20-22lbs. Not or as people like to think.

Seriously!? How did I not know that? In usually a stickler for knowing the rules. So a cop can give a ticket for it?

  • The weird part is that I know a lot of moms who know the rule and choose to ignore it.  One mom in particular turned her 10 month old around; yet, the thought of feeding her a non-organic apple mortifies her.

  • My mom is one who can't believe my sister and I had/have our kids RF for as long as we did.  Morgan is still RF, she's 28 lbs but I will RF until she reaches the limit for our seat.  I'm actually looking at another seat (should have bought the one while it was on sale on Amazon) to keep her RFing longer than another couple months.  My sister RF'd her daughter until just recently I believe, but my mom freaks out about it.

"I can't believe you make that poor baby look out the back window still" and "you know, I didn't even have a carseat for you when you came home from the hospital and you were never in a RF'ing one"  Well Mom, that was 1979...., I love her and all but I will keep Morgan RF'ing until she's too big.
