Trying to Get Pregnant

Charting after MC

I am wondering when I should start charting and temping again. Should I wait until I get AF back?

Re: Charting after MC

  • I liked temping after my losses, before I got my period back, to give me some sort of general idea of when I could expect my period and to help add some sense of normality back to my life.
Son: Jackson, 11/02/06, stillborn due to PPROM and IUGR. Over the next ten years we had 9 miscarriages from 8-14 weeks. On May 18, 2016 my daughter, Ridley, was born. We're OADNBC.
  • @EllyD14 I think that's how I'm feeling. I'd like to know when to expect AF... I'm guess it's going to take a while.

  • I wish I had started temping sooner after my MC.  It would have spared me some confusion and uncertainty.
  • I was also reading that some women do the pee stick thing and I was wondering about that. I don't know if I can keep seeing a positive on a pee stick knowing that I'm not. I don't know what the heck I'm going to do... I guess after 6 weeks, if AF isn't here, then I will call the dr. IDK...

  • I wish I had temped after my loss. It would have helped me get a grasp on things.

@ImJessesGirl‌ please don't take this as me pushing you off on another board but have you checked out TTCAL? It was a little heavy for my liking but in my first few days post loss I gained a lot of insight just by lurking.
  • @SNLT1012 I did check out that board, but it seemed like it was for women with repeated losses or something like that. I swear I won't ask questions exclusively about my MC, lol.

  • Oh girl please, ask all the questions you need! I had sooooooo many questions immediately following my loss and I didn't have anyone IRL to ask. Even if you don't participate over there though there's usually questions asked in the intro posts that may help you out :)
  • @SNLT1012 Thank you so much!!! I just don't want a loss to consume me or define my experience...does that make sense?IDK... I do have a lot of questions... but I'm in limbo until I know WTF is going on with the fibroids. I don't know how long it's going to take to get an appointment with the specialist, but I hope I'll have that appointment tomorrow.

  • So that brings me to my next question... is CD1 the day I start bleeding or the day the bleeding is done? Or does that part even really matter?

I started charting again about 10 days after my D&C and ended up having a short anovulatory cycle that month so you never know how it is going to happen.  My doc said that when the patient does cytotec she tracks betas down to zero to make sure there is no retained tissue.  Also most of the regs on TTCAL are multiple loss ladies but there are plenty of folks (like me) that post there after 1 loss.  I do often find it too heavy at times though and post over here too.  I agree that the first day of bleeding (more than spotting) would count as CD1.
Ask as many questions as you need to.  For better or worse there are lots of us here that have been through it.

So that brings me to my next question... is CD1 the day I start bleeding or the day the bleeding is done? Or does that part even really matter?
I had a D&C, but I would start CD1 as the day you start bleeding. If you use FF, they have a "miscarriage" check box and I entered "bleeding" on the day of my D&C

I know that everyone is different, but I got my first post-loss period about 30 days after my D&C, and before I got pregnant my "normal" cycle was about 26 days. I have only had one period but I don't know if the 30 days will be my new "normal" or if it will go back to a shorter cycle, or if my body will just decide to start doing something completely different.

I would echo PP in that it would have been helpful for me to temp right away if I cared to know what was going on. I didn't, but I know lots of people do. If you are visiting with an RE he or she may have some insight there too about what your first post-loss cycle is going to look like.

TTCAL is a GREAT place to get support and ask questions, but there is definitely a different vibe there. The ladies there are wonderful and happy to answer questions and help you through a bad day. But, for ME (not speaking for anyone else), I don't feel the need to tip toe around other babies, pregnancies, etc. I love babies and celebrating BFPS. And I love snark. You won't get those two things over there too much. But again, it's a great place for support and specific questions.

    Hugs!
