I heard that primrose oil can soften the cervix. Does anyone know anything about it or have experience with it? I know nothing works for sure, but I'm curious :-)

who did you hear it from? Nurse/OB/midwife?? I'd consider your source.
Unless your docs tell you differently, most likely, things will happen when your body and baby are ready for them to happen. There are so many "tricks" to help things move along but if any of them actually worked, no one would go past their due date. I had so many friends and family members, with the best intentions, tell me to just try xyz and I was still over a week late. Hang in there and GL!
I tried it with my first pregnancy, took them religiously as directed. While I was 90 percent effaced by 36 weeks it didn't help dilate or prepare my body in any other way (who knows if it even helped efface?) and I didn't have my son until 41 weeks.
I took a pill, inserted vaginally, when I was a week late with baby 1, and went into pretty active labor 2 hours later - no slow build up but painful regular contractions almost immediately. Labor was 13 hours total, and pretty smooth but very intense. Don't know if the epo & labor were related or not, but won't be doing it again this time.
