Re: Sunscreen/sunblock?

  • Pool, beach, any time she's not going to have enough covering clothes on and will be in the sun for more than a few minutes. My mom, who has adrenal depletion, has been told that 15 minutes of sunlight a day is necessary for vitamin D uptake and such. That means without window protection and such. So, if we are only going out for a bit, no sunscreen.

  • Always. My husband and N can both burn at the drop of a hat.

  • I try to remember for whenever we're going out for awhile directly in the sun or not. However we're all fairly dark skinned (SO and DD are lighter than me but still olivey) and I take awhile to burn and it seems like she might be the same way. So Im not terribly worried if I forget once in awhile.

  • I was told to put on sunscreen even if you're going to be in a shaded area. Is this true?

I don't usually put it on to leave the house and go somewhere in the car, though I probably should. But if we are going outside to play, swim, etc. I put it on. Also, daycare puts it on him whenever they take him outside.
  • We only use it if we are going to be outside for awhile like a park or a pool. During the week, daycare puts sunscreen on everyday ( even shady days) bc they have outdoor time everyday. I probably should be better about it on weekends.

  • Yeah...I don't forget to do this...

I'm not new. I just hate The Bump.

  • If we are just running out to the garden to grab some veggies or empty groceries out of the car, I don't bother. But if we are going to the spray park or to play in the yard, I always apply. I really drop the ball in reapplication though. So far we have not had a single sunburn (or even a tinge of pink) and she's fair just like me. I've either been really lucky or my sunscreen is amazing!

  • I am very pale, and lucky B inherited my skin tone- so sun screen is on anytime we are going to be outside for longer than ten minutes. My H doesn't completely understand the sunscreen obsession- but he is getting the hang of it..
