Breastfeeding

BF question I know you're not Dr's but would appreciate an opinion.

Hello I have a quick question for you wonderful ladies. My son is 3 days old and today every time he breast fed he spit up. Sometimes it is just a little and sometimes it's like he spits up everything he ate. He tends to eat on each breast for 15-20 min when. He had plenty of wet diapers and poops today so I don't think he isn't getting enough. Could he just be a spitty baby or maybe getting too much milk at a time? I know you are not doctors just would appreciate an opinion before I start totally freaking out.

  • I agree with the above. Also my DD only ate from one side at a time when she was a newborn. She was pretty tiny so that worked best. We probably fed more often but it wasn't so much at once.
  • I agree with the PP's. Burp every few minutes & keep baby upright after feeding. Baby might still spit up a little but I think a little spit up every once in a while isn't a big deal.

  • Yep, its normal. Baby's tummy at 3 days old is still super duper tiny and your milk is probably coming in and tastes so good to baby that they just keep drinking. Like PP said, burping often and sitting upright helps. There are many babies that are just "happy spitters" and will spit up with every feeding for awhile. My LO spit up with many feeds for a long while, i cant remember how many months, but it was pretty frequent. She has only done it a couple of times in the more recent months.
