But do have three iPhones, you can save a lot of money on a monitoring system by download Cloud Baby Monitor app to all devices ($3.99). What you do is use an old iphone (like an iphone 3) as your video and audio base. Then, you can use other iPads or iPhones as where you see baby. The great thing is there is no distance limit. I'm going to try it, and I thought I would pass it on.

    Would love to know how it works! We already have a monitor with two cameras that we bought a long time ago, but I'm wondering if the iPhone thing may give clearer images. How are you planning to mount the phone so you can see baby? I guess the other downside is that you can't pan around the room...probably not an issue with a newborn though.

    The mounting thing I am still trying to figure out. I believe you can get a phone case with a stand. It won't pan the room, but it does say on the app that it has night vision.

    What happens when your iPhone or iPad goes to sleep- can you still pick up the audio or does it turn back on when there is movement or sound?

    We bought a D Link infrared security camera.. It was about $100 cheaper than the wifi baby monitor.. And we're able to pan, view the baby from our phone and computers

    ,.. And my nerdy husband even wrote a computer program that created a gif when it senses movement and texts it to your phone, it's been funny trying it out on the dog.. Not practical and we won't use that function once the baby is here, but it made DH really happy.
