I have read that breastmilk changed throughout the day. For example, breastmilk pumped at night contains something that makes babies sleepier. I have also read that it contains more fat and less water. I get my best pumping output in the middle of the night. Is it not ideal to use this night milk later on to feed baby a bottle in the middle of the day? Has anyone actually noticed a difference? I appreciate your input!
Re: Do you only give pumped milk the same time of day it was pumped?
For the purposes of divvying it up into bottles, I'd just mix and match to get the right amount. You WILL sometimes notice that one bottle has more fat than another once it separates in the fridge. In that case, I'd deliberately mix them so she wasn't getting a bottle of "skim" for a feeding.
I imagine that if you EP maybe you'd pay attention to that, but I don't think most of us did while pumping at work or whatever.

Oh man, if I had to keep track of the time in which I pumped certain milk and then give it to DD accordingly...I don't think I'd have been able to handle that!
Maybe because I didn't pump full-time, but I never noticed a difference after any bottles LO received. She was just happy to eat and we never had an issue (thankfully!).
