Induction Scheduled!

I had a check up today at 38 + 4 weeks. Nothing is going on down there...apparently my kids like to stay put because the same thing happened with DS #1. Doctor has decided to induce on the 3rd if Cohen doesn't come before then.

I'm pretty nervous even though I've been through this before. T and P from you wonderful ladies would be appreciated.

I'm sure you know but its okay for a normal pregnancy to go to 42 weeks. Not all babies are ready right at 40 and a due date is more of an estimation then an actual eviction date. Why not wait it out and see if baby comes on there own?

Yeah, that seems a little early, doesn't it? Is there a medical reason? I'd be wondering if the doctor was just trying to get baby out early so he/she won't be bothered over a holiday weekend. But regardless, sending lots of positive thoughts your way--hope you and baby both do well and that all goes smoothly!

My doctor is concerned about the baby's size. I'll be 39 + 3 on induction day.

Yikes. How big is baby now? They estimated my little guy was 7.5 lbs yesterday (which I know can be off by as much as 2 lbs...but still.) I'm curious because my doctor said I should have no problems when LO is full term. But my guy still has time to pack on more weight.

Perhaps a UO but why risk going through a medically unnecessary induction where your risk of complications is higher when you don't have to?

I have a great relationship with my doctor, and I trust him fully. He's estimated to be well over 8 lbs at this point with ten more days to grow. I had trouble pushing DS out and he was 8.6 and a week early.

They're checking me one more time on Wednesday to see if there is any progression.

Good luck! I'm being induced on Monday for the opposite reason; baby is measuring small and especially his belly is small. I hope it goes well for both of us! I myself haven't been through this so I'm pretty nervous, but in the end we'll have our LOs!
