Sorry if anyone doesn't want to see something like this. I am just really bothered by the statement below and wanting to get feedback. This was someone on my BMB, and I am offended by this statement, but I'm not wanting to stir the pot there.
Here is the statement. Note that this is not my opinion, and I am pro choice, but for different reasons than this:
"I'm pro abortion. I wish abortions were free or at least more accessible than they are in my area. The crime rate would probably go down where I live (I know I'll get flamed big time for this)."
The implication that free abortions = a lower crime rate is just offensive. Like it's the people who can't afford abortions who end up having kids who grow up to be criminals, and they'd be better off being aborted? Maybe I am not thinking about it the right way.
Sorry for a heavy topic on a Friday.
Re: Abortion and crime rates
In a way, I want to ask what she means, but in another way, I don't like to argue with people who have views like that because not a lot of good comes out of it.
It's not the best reason to be pro choice.
Unable to even.

Was coming in here to mention Freakonomics. I read it a long time ago, but there were stats that showed a correlation between abortions and crime rates. I also know Freakonomics has been criticized on the "correlation is not causation" thing though.
Quote from your link:
• Non-Hispanic white women account for 36% of abortions, non-Hispanic black women for 30%, Hispanic women for 25% and women of other races for 9%.[3]
Then it's a question of how those numbers compare to the US population.
Care to elaborate? I don't understand what you were trying to say.
@LovelyRitaMeterMaid
The quote from your link shows the abortion rates by race in the US. So, the issue of whether certain races disproportionately get more or fewer abortions would require a comparison between rates by race and the percentages of each race in the U.S. Population.
I don't know the current U.S. Population (mobile and don't feel like googling) demographics, but let's say the population of black women was 15%. Then 15% of the population would be having 30% of the abortions.
Your link also gave information about women relative to the poverty line.
