Pelvic rest

After my early loss last cycle, my doctor recommended pelvic rest & no running until my spotting stopped for this pregnancy. Well my spotting has stopped the last couple days, but when I asked my Dr. when to return to my normal routine, she just said whenever I'm comfortable. I'm of course very worried still. I was thinking maybe a week or 2 of no spotting? What would you do?

Re: Pelvic rest

  • I'd like to say that I'd trust my doctor and go off of whatever he/she says, but I totally understand why you're worried and want to wait longer. However, you don't want to get yourself so freaked out that you don't live a normal life just because you are scared of losing this LO. If it makes you feel better, wait another week.

  • I'd wait longer, too.  And if the worry about exercising outweighs the benefits, I'd probably keep it to walking.  But that's just me--I'm super paranoid and 9 months of light exercise is still good!
  • I don't blame you, I'm paranoid myself. I'm not really that horny anyway and H understands so I'm fine with holding out until I feel a little more comfortable.
  • I would also wait another week or so.

  • I've cut running completely this time, at least until after the first ultrasound. It's provably unnecessary, but given that I also had a loss in April (and ran during that pregnancy) I just want to remove any variables that I can control.

  • I never even thought of not having sex... is that an issue?

That's what pelvic rest is. It's not an issue to have sex during pregnancy but Ive heard stories about women who had rough sex, started spotting and then got worried. I'd be one of those women and worry too much.
  • Thanks for your input ladies!

BostonAlison     Sex isn't normally an issue with pregnancy, but for women who are spotting it is often recommended to abstain for a while =(
