WTF Wednesday?

I needed to start a thread like this today, so here goes!

WTF to my H's step mother. and her brother. and her daughter. She is going out  of town this weekend with FIL and she calls me up today and asks if we can go to their house and let their dog out several times throughout the weekend. We have a shit ton of stuff going on this weekend, but I say OK because they would do it for us, and they are only ten minutes down the road.... and I can make DH do it most of the time ;)  BUT then she goes ahead and tells me he also needs antibiotics three times a day (which my H is super weird about doing with our own dog so I doubt he will do with theirs).  Apparently she had this all lined up with her brother but he decided today that he wants to go out this weekend instead (he is a very immature 40).  And her daughter that is 20 and lives there can't be bothered either.

Maybe this should have been under FWW because its really such a minor problem but it got my blood boiling that two single, childless adults aren't taking responsibility but the people with a baby are stuck running around all weekend long.

End rant, please share your WTF moments... or tell me I am over reacting because, frankly, I need that sometimes ha!

Re: WTF Wednesday?

  • I'd be annoyed too. Can the dog just come stay with you??

  • I did mention that once I found out all that this entailed but she didn't think it was a good idea.  He doesn't get a long with my dog all that well and she was nervous that it would be a pain.  He is a shitzu and my dog is a mini poodle.  Pretty sure we could handle it ;)
  • @MotherEFFingKatie‌ congrats!! Why did you think otherwise? (Don't answer if too personal!) I always get nervous when asked for a private meeting!

  • @mskatiep‌
Personal meeting with the VP of the company isn't usually good news. I felt like my performance was good but I am a nobody in the structure of things so I thought they were starting lay offs and not going to make my boss do it.

So glad I was so wrong. In fact they love me. It was a fantastic feeling. I am very lucky to work for a great company.

    Good! That's awesome!!

  • WTF to DH.  Tuesday afternoon we had some bad storms roll through.  We live on the northeast side of the city.  There was a tornado touchdown on the southwest side.  The tornado sirens went off but they do all the time (a T-Storm warning and Tornado Watch will do it and that happens a lot).  It wasn't even raining at our house and the sun was peaking through.  I've lived here for several years and know when the weather is getting dicey and when we need to head to the basement.  DH texted me and asked if I was in the basement.  I told him no.  We eventually went but that didn't stop him from talking to me like I was 5 and telling me he was pissed that we weren't in the basement when the siren first sounded.  He went so far as to tell me I endangered our daughter and our dog.  The storm never even got to our house.  I'm an adult and you weren't here DH!  Don't tell me what to do!

  • WFT to this family party I have to go to this weekend, but really to us being broke.
The party is in NY- about a 4 hour drive away. We booked a hotel room for the night but now we decided it wasn't worth the cost of the hotel room plus getting someone to take care of our dog while we are gone so we are going to drive down and back same day!
It's the financially smart thing to do, and I'm happy to go to the party ( it's DH's family) but I'm dreading the long ass day we have ahead of us and not getting to relax much this weekend.

Is your husband from that area originally? Normally "natives" to tornado areas are generally much more laid back in terms of thunderstorms. I think in the 26 years I have lived in KS I have gone to the basement twice. We usually just watch the radar. Although, if a siren went off at night while I was sleeping and unaware of a T-storm I would now probably go to the basement first and then check radar.

When army families PCS to KS they are always terrified of tornadoes as if they happen everyday. They usually test sirens once a week at noon, and people look ready to run for cover even if it is sunny with no clouds at all.

@tgrimes1980‌ that is insane, and pretty scary! You were pretty brave to throw the towel and yell at him, I would have completely panicked!

    Edited for a word
  • @tgrimes1980‌ holy crap!! Crazy! Glad you guys stayed safe!

  • Nuts! Literally that's f-ING nuts!

Glad your safe and hopefully he's just mentally not there and was lost and confused but not harmful, so he won't think to come back revenge style.

And I thought we'd have a lot longer before we had to worry about keeping naked men away from our little girls!

He's more from this area than I am!  He told me I should always go to the basement when I hear the sirens.  They test them every Friday at 11am.  I asked him if I should go to the basement then.  He didn't think it was funny. I understand his concern and all but the way he went about talking to me about it was horrible.

  • I know it's Thursday now but this is in the same vein as @tgrimes1980's UNG. WTF to the couple doing a BJ in a public park -- on a picnic table -- right next to the side of the road in a neighborhood where there are kids everywhere?! We drove past this last night and thank God that a) the girl's hair was long and you couldn't actually see anything, and b) LO isn't old enough to ask questions or even notice.

I realize I probably sound like someone's grandmother, but what is WRONG with people??

Do we have the same family? We are headed to a (DH's) family party in NY this weekend and staying a night in a hotel. Once I added up the cost of the gas, hotel and gift (a friend is watching the animals free of change thank god) I was wishing we hadn't said we'd go!
