Food processor recommendation?

I've been making my own baby food using an immersion blender thus far, but want to start blending meats & I'm not sure if my blender has the power for it.

Anyone make baby food and have a food processor they'd recommend? I'm looking for one that could break down chicken, roast beef, etc.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Food processor recommendation?

  • We have a ninja and it made easy work of some chicken breast that we purees for B. We've had it for years and it's the best all purpose blender we've found.
Can't figure out the signature thing, so here's the short, short version.....first daughter born on November 10, 2013. She was conceived through the magic of IVF after 2+ years of TTC.

A food processor isn't going to get anything smooth like a blender will. I'd recommend chopping chicken into smallish pieces and putting in a traditional blender. I have a Kitchenaid ($100 at Bed Bath and Beyond) and it does a great job with making baby food. It's strong enough to chop up just about anything and makes purees really, really smooth. Plus the jar can go in the dishwasher to get it really clean. If you buy it from BBB and it breaks you can take it back and get a new one anytime. Even if you've used it and had it for a year.

Oh, to answer your question, I have this Cusiniart processor that comes with the traditional chopping blade and also a disc that allows you to slide and shred. This has been awesome for chopping peppers and onions quickly. Also great for shredding sweet potatoes and block cheeses.
