Trouble TTC

Please tell me I didn't screw up IUI #1 already!!!

OK, kind of freaking out here.  First IUI cycle - we were so worried about timing BD to not be more than 5 days, not less than 2-3 days before IUI and I think we messed it up.  Our schedules are crazy so we haven't even seen each other in a week - like two ships passing - and I knew (according to previous charts, etc) that most likely I would O on Sunday or Monday.  So we BD'd early this morning (Fri) when DH got home from work (5am).  I had fertile CM last night and usually have 2-3 days of this before +OPK/O.  So I thought our timing was perfect in respect to the BD before IUI.  However, I did an OPK at 8am and it was POSITIVE.  I have my u/s appt today so I will talk to the RE then, but tried calling and can't get through to the office.  So now I'm worried his spermies won't be in good condition (We have MF - low motility, moderate count)......I am also concerned because DH has to take the night off from work so that he can be ready/awake for the process (he works long hours at night) and after the u/s will be too late for him to call out.  Sigh. Any advice/success stories/words of encouragement??  :)

  • Breathing....thank you.....sorry for the freak out.  Yes, he could do that.  I agree - not my (our) usual style but desperate times, right?  :)  Fingers crossed everything works out!!!

  • Try not to worry too much! Talk to the RE when possible and get info so you can be more informed next time if you need to do another IUI. Hopefully everything went ok!

Trying to have baby #1 since April 2013

DH SA March,May 2014 - Low motility and shape issues. On vitamins per RE to help

Me testing April 3, 2014 - FSH and LH good, HSG showed blocked right tube

April 29, 2014 - First RE appt., right tube needs to be removed and possibly left also if

it's bad too. RE suggests going straight to IVF

June 4, 2014 - LAP/HSC and unexpected endo. removed but tubes got to stay!

June 13, 2014 - Post-Op appointment. We decide where to go next since main issue

is MFI influenced. Trying naturally until decision... Repeat SA  in September. Aiming for IUI #1 November 2014.

  • RE's office will be able to see exactly the state of your follie on ultrasound a bloodtest if necessary and you'll know if you can do IUI then or a bit later. Sounds like saving up is DH's best bet until he's told it's now or never. And with IUI, they'll be making the most of what he's got. Perhaps he'll even have higher motility which can offset counts. :) Good luck.

  • Thanks for all your support! Had u/s and had one follicle at 22....dr said we should still go ahead with IUI so we just had it done today!!! Hubby's count was 7mil, motility 55% and the wash brought count up to 9 mil. Not fabulous but still ok. Wish us luck and baby dust!!
