Short story: Hayley Eve was born on Monday, June 23 at 10:18 am. 7 lbs 4 oz, 19 inches long. This was a fast and furious pitocin induced, but epi-free birth!

Full story: I was supposed to be induced on Thursday (today), but felt mild contractions starting from Saturday at 3 am. They would come and go all day, but by Sunday at 3am, they started to get a little more painful and close together. They still weren't a consistent 5 min apart, but I figured I'd go get it checked out anyway. My hubby and I got to the hospital around 5am and they hooked me up to the monitors in triage. They said I was having mild contractions, but since I was already 4cm dilated and 60% effaced, they wanted to start my induction then instead of waiting until Thursday. My doctor originally wanted me to do it Monday, but I asked her if I could wait until Thursday so I guess Monday was meant to be.

Anyway, they started me on the lowest dose of pitocin at 8:05am, and by 8:30 my water broke on its own and I was having crazy contractions and felt like I needed to push. The nurses and my husband had to turn me on my side and keep my legs closed tight together so that I wouldn't push. I asked for an epidural, even though I originally didn't want one, but the pain was intense. They told me it would take about 45 min for the anesthesiologist to come and to just try and breathe through the contractions. I tried my best and it was like an out of body experience breathing through these crazy contractions.

By the time the anesthesiologist showed up, I was telling them I needed to push this baby out, and sure enough, I was at 10 cm and 100% effaced, so they didn't give me the epi, We waited for the doctor on call to arrive because my doctor was busy doing a c-section. When he got there I was so happy to push, it felt so good to just get the baby out that it didn't really hurt at that point. I pushed for about 20 minutes and the doctor gave me an episiotomy and she came right out at 10:18 am, about 2 hrs from the start of pitocin.

Recovery has been a little rough because of all the stitches, but it seems to be getting better every day and I'm so happy that my baby is here:)
