Dating question for my IVF ladies

All of the online calculators I looked at say to put in your ER date and then count from there, but at my u/s this week on my print out they gave me, they seem to have counted from ET date. And after telling me there are TWO babies in there, my brain stopped working so I forgot to ask. So....which is it??

ETA: I should have mentioned it was a fresh transfer, not a FET, because yes, I can totally see how that would change things. Wow, my brain is seriously slow these days!

I have always used the ET date. Because ER doesnt always apply, especially if you had a FET.

If it is a fresh cycle, your LMP is 14 days prior to ER. Not sure what the dating is for FET

Unfortunately, I've never gotten to do a FET. For a fresh, my RE goes by ER, since the ER is like an ovulation date. So dating would be two weeks before the ER (so the weeks since your ER + 2).

This is true until they are able to do a dating ultrasound and the pregnancy can change by up to +/- a week. Any more than that is cause for concern.

Do different RE's do it differently? It doesn't seem like something that should be subjective.

It was my u/s tech and it was just what was printed on my picture of my little blobs, so it could simply be a mistake, but it got me wondering. Every website I look at says to put in ER date, making me 6 weeks today. I'm going to go with that and confirm when I am there next week.

I had a FET they counted obviously they went off the ET but for fresh cycles they still consider you 2 weeks at time of transfer.

As far as your U/S printout goes, that may refer to your embryo's physical measurement, rather than your LMP. They measure the gestational sac and based on the measurements, the computer generates an approximate age to make sure you are relatively on schedule. It can be a few days off either way.

Just curious... wouldnt it still be the same EDD whether using ER or ET? Shouldnt it still yield the same thing? I would assume its only different if you used LMP vs ER/ET dates since those are manipulated a lot during cycling.

@jaztaz1 - I'm not even getting to EDD since now it's changed with twins, haha! I have looked at like 6 different websites and the only option to put in is either LMP or ER date, no option for ET date at all...

I realize this might seem nitpicky, I'm just someone who likes accuracy, haha! I used to take pictures of my charts for accurate follie sizes and counts! I'm a details person, it just bugs me to now know for sure.

Interesting... the apps I use (and even some websites) ask me for ET date. Do you think you will go in Jan now that you are having double babies?

Weird. Anyways, yes, most places I'm looking project an EDD of Jan 27 or 29th for twins. But I am not going anywhere (as in to the Jan BMB), I like it here

Yes it should. The IVF calculator websites that I have used give options for ER date, 3dt date, or 5dt date. Your ER date or your ET date should give you the same EDD as long as you are selecting the right dt.

I *have* however noticed a difference in IVF vs non-IVF calculators. The dates I get from the IVF sites are a day off from the day I get from the non-IVF sites. Even the same EDD, they are putting at different GAs.
