Pregnant after a Loss

intro and a question

Hello ladies. I lost my son January '13. I was very surprised to get a positive last Saturday. i'm due on Feb. 8. I have a dating ultrasound appt. on Monday. Heres my concern: I've been waking up with very sore breasts until today. This week I've been feeling fine and its freaking me out! how long do sore breasts usually last?

Re: intro and a question

  • Welcome and Congrats! I'm so sorry for the loss of your son.

Symptoms vary from person to person and from pregnancy to pregnancy.  For example, with my 1st 2 pregnancies, I don't remember having very sore boobs, but this time around, my boobs have ached since about 7 dpo.

Remember that symptoms are not necessarily a sign of a healthy or unhealthy pregnancy.  At the top of the main page, you'll find a list of PGAL mantras that many of us repeat to ourselves regularly - Today I am pregnant and I love my baby; I am pregnant until someone tells me otherwise; etc.

Wishing you a happy and healthy 9 months!

  • the soreness will come and go...try not to read too much into it (I know, easier said than done).  Congrats on the BFP and hope you are here for the full 9!

  • Thank you @MoreThanSparrow08. I think i'm more sensitive to this symptom because I remember with my last one, my Midwife kept asking me if I had sore breasts each time I said no and that was an indicator to her. Going to try to stay positive.

  • Welcome!  Symptoms definitely come and go!  It doesn't help the PGAL brain one little bit.  Big ((hugs))!

  • I am sorry for the loss of your son. Congrats on this pregnancy. PgAL brain is extremely difficult to deal with at times. As others have mentioned, symptoms come and go. Everyone and every pregnant is completely different. It is extremely difficult, but try to stay as positive as you can!

  • I'm so sorry for the loss of your son.  Congratulations on this new pregnancy.  PP have given good advice to take it one day, one thing, at a time.  I'll also add that PgAL brain doesn't seem to go away for most of us so it's good practice to start now repeating the mantras that seem to help most in times like this:
    - today I am pregnant and I love this baby
    - I am pregnant until someone tells me otherwise

These and others are posted in the sticky post at the top of the board, or here: https://forums.thebump.com/discussion/12220148/pgal-mantras/p1

    Hope this helps :).

  • I'm sorry for your loss and congratulations on your new pregnancy. I know that the presence and lack of symptoms can cause lots of concern, esp. for PGaLers, including me. They really do come and go. Try not to worry (too much)!
