This is me just THINKING about doing lists or getting bags packed or really ANY of it!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Proud Mother to 16 year old Austin (MCJROTC Sgt., Trumpet playing "Band Nerd" and hopeful Air Force Pilot!) Proud Stepmother to 12 year old Josh (Baseball playing, Saxophone playing "Band Nerd" and hopeful Doctor!) Proud Mother to baby Kaylee (Stuffed toy playing, Adorable smiling baby and hopeful Rodeo Princess!)
Um, everything. All our baby gear is still in the attic. We'll get it down next weekend.
I will start washing clothes, blankets, and bedding next week. I'll probably go ahead and put the sheet and bumpers on the crib too even though he won't sleep there for awhile.
I should probably figure out where I'm going to store bottles so they're not all over our kitchen counter.
STM here, so we have a lot of stuff left from the last kiddo (with only 18 months apart)... but we have a lot of prepping to do...
DH needs to move some furniture to make room for the crib, as the kids will share a room once this LO is STTN, buy some gripe water, tylenol, a new kit (oral dropper, nose sucker etc). Sterilize some older stuff, pack my hospital bag, pack DH's hospital bag, make a new change station for the new LO so I don't wake up DS to use his in his room at night, clean out some dressers so the kids use the big one and DH can use the smaller one. I still need to round up a few items I have loaned out, rearrange and install car seats.... This time I got savvy and booked off work a whole month ahead so I have time to do all this. Because last time I got off work 2 weeks early and ended up having DS on my first day off. My friends ended up coming to my house and cleaning it while I stayed in the hospital.
We have everything we need but I still need to wash all his clothes and organize the closet. I didn't want to wash things too soon because I felt like I would need to re-wash. Depending on the day I feel prepared one minute then overwhelmed with things to do. I have yet to schedule a hospital tour (at this point I may not, I'm familiar with the hospital and my OB can answer any questions) Need to call my insurance company about breast pump, interview/ choose pediatrician, oh...and pick a name! Ugh..
Feeling mostly on top of things, with 40 days left to go...
1. Buy new car (hopefully by second week of July) 2. Install car seat 3. make birth announcement list 4. take breastfeeding class 5. grocery shop for snacks etc. for labor/hospital stay
1- pack labor bag 2- take labor and delivery class 3- have last growth ultrasound 4- wash the rest of the clothes 5- buy crib matress, sheets, baby tub and other bits and pieces 6- buy breastfeeding supplies/ order breast pump 7- have parents bring dresser over- fill with clothes, cloth diapers and blankets
AHHH Just reading this thread has stressed me the fuck out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I guess it is time to get my butt in gear!!! Thank you ladies for reminding me all the crap that needs to be done in the next 6-7 weeks as LO will be in in probably 9ish
Um, get my house clean. Get the bassinet down from the garage attic Get my new pump, bottles, milk storage, etc... Get car seat Install car seat Pack hospital bag...
Pretty much the only thing I can check of is getting my newborn cloth diapers back.
Have H put in car seat (we are purposely waiting, if we have an accident before then I don't want to have to deal with buying a new one). No biggie because we've used it for our first 2 babies and are familiar with it.
1. Order breast pump; insurance won't let me do until 30 days out, so just slightly over a week and I can finally check that off the list
2. Have shower, its this weekend so yay!
3. Get anything on my registry I think we need that we didn't get at the shower
4. Thank-you notes
5. finish her nursery. We finally cleaned out the room and DH painted this week, now just need to get her glider and dresser and get it all in there, plus decorations... I think I just realized I have more to do there than I originally thought lol
6. Wash her clothes/sheets/towels
7. Install the car seat and have it inspected
8. Pack hospital bag
9. Pre-reg at the hospital, should be able to do that at my next dr. apt which is next week
I think those are the biggest things. I am sure there are a million others. But mostly I agree with @blinkme182 I need to win the lottery...
Tour hospital, buy bottles, pacis & diapers, bring up baby stuff from the basement (organized into a pile down there), install car seat, pack bags & get house clean and ready for vistors helping with DS.
I was talking about this with my BFF today. I think I have everything that would prevent CPS from coming and taking LO away once he's born. Jokes aside, I still need: -Car seat/Stroller -Breastfeeding class -FMLA paperwork needs to show up/be filled out -Maternity photos -Deep, deep cleaning of the house -pack hospital bag for me and DH -plan/prep freezer meals ....I'm sure there are more, but for the most part I feel we have the essentials covered.
Eeeek... You made me figure out the days- give or take 42ish for me.
I feel like we are good on purchases, I ordered a baby bathtub off amazon last night since I trashed DS' as it smells mildewy by the time we were done with it. We cloth diaper, those are good to go, and are team green, so if this baby is a boy we are covered, if it's a girl we will shop after she's born and make do with DS' stuff in the meantime.
Otherwise:
-install infant seat and get inspected. -pull out DS' newborn clothes, sort and wash. -hang mobile, finish hanging a couple decor type things in the nursery. -move DS' clothes from the closet in nursery to his room. -pack hospital bag -second meeting with doula to finalize birth plan
Here is what I'm focusing on for the next couple weeks before I really have to get down to the real details - order closet organizer/cubby storage - find and buy bins or baskets for changing table - clean out pantry - clean out cabinet for bottles - Digital photo clean up and storage
I think once we are more like 2-4 weeks out we will wash clothes etc.
Wash some blankets I received. And pack my.hospital bag, purchase my post partum stuff. Other than that i think we are covered. I'm a super nester apparently.
So much stuff, but I feel like making a list will be helpful (to me at least), so I'm going to do it:
-shower (in 2 weeks) -purchase remaining items after shower -install car seat/have it inspected -pack hospital bags for myself, baby, & H -assemble crib -decorate nursery (artwork, curtains, etc) -wash baby clothes/blankets -buy diapers/wipes after H has his work diaper party & we figure out what we need -approach our friends about being our baby's caregiver if something were to happen to both of us -write a will -order breast pump, have to wait til 30 days prior to due date -buy nursing bras -set up Co-Sleeper in our bedroom -put together a post-partum care kit -freezer meals/meal lists -train my temp -write thank you notes -deep clean the house
I feel like there's more, but I'm also embarrassed by the length of my list!
Seriously though, I still have to do everything. I'm waiting for the construction in our upstairs to be finished and I haven't bought one thing yet. We are going to be seriously screwed if this baby decides to come early.
-have my shower (next weekend) -buy whatever I didn't get from my shower -buy formula (just in case) and diapers -finish decorating the nursery -finish packing -hospital tour -breast feeding workshop
Making that list just really discouraged me. Ugh
************* First BFP: 12/16/13 EDD: 08/23/14 Baby BOY born: 08/29/14
I feel like we have so much left to do. Things I can think of right now:
- decorate/finish nursery - have showers (one is this weekend) - organize baby things - wash clothes, bedding, cloth diapers - install car seat - choose a pediatrician - pack hospital bag - buy everything else we need that we don't get at showers - take infant CPR class - take water birth class (already scheduled) - hospital tour (already scheduled)
Everything has to be done! I'm gonna pawn my other kids off either this weekend or next so I can work all day Saturday and then me and h can work all day Sunday together.
I'm running away tomorrow for a night in a hotel by myself. DH is keeping the girls. I was supposed to go last weekend, but DD2 had taken my id out of my wallet so I got there and couldn't check in.
It's supposed to be for my birthday...but my birthday is too close to my due date to be comfortable for me to stay away...so I'm doing it now...so glad to look forward to a night where I don't have to fight the girls to sleep!
First day of maternity leave starts July 4th, and I need to put a bunch of stuff in storage, take baby stuff out of storage, wash everything, install car seats, buy odds and ends that we didn't get at the shower, get a glider, and have a baby. No big whoop.
I am the kind of person who LOVES to do lists. It actually helps keep me sane/focused and it feels awesome to cross things off. I currently have a before baby and after baby list going. The major highlights of the before baby list are:
1) shower thank you notes and share photos (I feel awful that it was weeks ago and this has made minimal progress) 2) finish nursery (hang prints, decal, curtains) 3) get all breast feeding supplies 4) install/inspect car seat 5) pack hospital bags and get anything needed for labor and delivery 6) get tdap vaccine 7) get all work leave paperwork settled 8) infant CPR class 9) clean house and prep freeze ahead meals 10) get a new tv (totally NBR but it just decided to crap out completely on us)
In some ways we're right on schedule, in others I feel super behind.
Shower is done, TYs are written DH is still holding his ground in his home office, sharing it with unassembled crib & all baby stuff Hospital tour & birth class are done, looking forward to breastfeeding/child care class next weekend
Need to: Buy car seat, install & check Pack hospital & diaper bags Visit pediatrician Wash/sort baby clothes* A million little projects to get the nursery together (starting 7/12)* Make freezer meals* Make time for myself: time in a pool, prenatal massage, etc**
*Fortunately I have some very excited girlfriends who want to help with these!
**I need to have this on my list or it won't get done.

I've been obsessing with the name...which still isn't done. So I have everything to do.
The big project is to clear out space in our room for LO as she will be in there with us for a while.
Organize all the birthing supplies. I think I have most of it purchased, but it needs to be assembled.
I need to buy a small package of newborn diapers for the meconium stage.
Assuming it's a sunny day when I deliver, everything else could be done during labor, though I'd prefer them done before hand.
Those things are:
air out the co-sleeper
wash baby clothes, blankets, sheets
Later the week she's born I'll need to wash the cloth diapers and install the carseat.
We just don't use much in the early days. I hate dressing new born babies and I'm hoping to do a lot of kangaroo care this time.
I felt like I had everything under control until recently...now I'm kind of freaking out. I still need to...
- Find out how to file for short-term disability
- Buy BF & PP Supplies
- Buy items not gifted to us & return shower duplicates (not too many things...bottles, swaddles, boppy, etc.)
- Clean out a kitchen cabinet and the linen closet to make room for extra baby stuff
- Install carseat
- BUY NEW CAR...waiting for our overdue tax return!
- Pack Hospital Bag
- Write Thank-You Notes
- Prep for Birth Announcements
- Wash baby items/clothes
- Make some freezer meals
- Stock up on household items, snacks, etc. a couple weeks before EDD
