Have you been to the new downtown Waterpark? Is it fun? Also, any suggestions on what to do/not do on the 4th? And finally, what are the chances of the Padres afternoon game being sold out on the 5th (normally I wouldn't be concerned, but since it's a Saturday and they're playing the Giants I think it might get more attendance)? Thanks in advance for the info!

I haven't been to the downtown water park. My only advice on what not to do on the 4th is go to the beach. It's way too crowded and crazy, unless you go to Coronado. But the streets are really crowded there for the 4th and parking sucks always. Padres games NEVER sell out, this is a sad fact. I love San Diego, I hope you have a great time!

Thanks for the advice! Coronado is always our beach of choice but I don't think I'm brave enough to tackle the traffic on the bridge or anywhere in that little town on the 4th. Sad (but good for us) about the Padres!

I haven't but my girlfriend took her 5 year old SD and said it was awesome. We really want to go.

Avoid all things tourist in the 4th. Someone told me about a cool ferry to Coronado that you watch the fireworks all over the city from but that's sadly all the details I remember. We're going to the Giants game on the 4th. As far as I know that game isn't sold out so I highly doubt the 5th is.

OK last questions @jenndub and @danabsd....

Is it a crazy idea to go to Legoland for the 4th? I can't figure out if it will be more crowded since it's a holiday or less crowded because people will be doing beach/bbq...our other option would be to go on Sunday (the 6th), which do you think would be better?

I'd brave it. Legoland is never incredibly crowded even on holidays in comparison to other parks (Disney, Seaworld). Plus they have fireworks and and a ton of new water stuff I keep hearing about.

Also, if you have any interest in going to the Fair it runs through 7/6.

I agree with Dana. I'd go to Legoland. And the new water park looks awesome! We need to go.

The Fair is a good idea. It's so fun and there is so much food. FOOD!!!!
