Nausea

Hi ladies. Yesterday I found out I am pregnant. According to all the million apps I downloaded I am currently 5 weeks along. I unfortunately had a miscarriage in January. It was the worst feeling I have ever been through, as I never experienced loss of any kind. But anyway to my question. How are you ladies dealing with nausea. With this pregnancy I feel much more sick than I did with my other one. I am exhausted and nauseous all the time. Anyone have any advice?

Re: Nausea

  • I took 1 zofran last week it was so bad and that helped, but lately I've been smelling mint oil my hubby got an herbal store that surprisingly really helps. You look a little nuts sniffing a bottle all the time but it's made me feel better! He also got me ginger candy which was good but the mint oil has mostly helped.

  • I find that if I make sure to eat small snacks/meals every 2 hours, it helps alot. Also, ginger ale works for me.

  • I try to eat small snacks. My nausea flares up on an empty stomach. Other than that (carbs a lot of the time), ginger helps me sometimes. Or I just curl up at home....work nausea blows!
This... the longer I go without eating, the more intense the nausea and the hunger pains. I try to keep a snack nearby. Ginger works. Ive started grating fresh ginger and adding it to my applesause cups.

  • None yet really but I'm only 5 weeks. With my first I threw up once or twice but was otherwise fine. With my second I was more nauseous but never actually threw up, I did take zofran here and there.

Eating frequently. For me 2 hours is too long to go, so it's little snacks pretty much all the time. When I get up in the middle of he night I eat some Cheerios that I keep bedside. Drink plenty of water. I found that sucking on hard candy (dum dum lollies for me) helps get that gross taste out of my mouth. And smelling peppermint helps too.

I've had constant nausea (w/o vomiting) for almost 4 wks already and haven't found the magic solution. Ginger chews were too strong for me. Nothing noticeable with nausea bands. Keep trying until you find what works *best* for you.

  • Agree with all the PP's.  Ginger is a lifesaver during the first trimester.  You can get ginger candy, make ginger tea or drink gingerale.  Frequent snacking is also your friend - keep a bag of crackers with you at all times.  If you do spew make sure you are drinking extra water to keep yourself hydrated!

  • I'm all for taking zofran... I'm such a weenie when it comes to feeling sick but my prescription is way too expensive so I've been living off preggie drops and ginger ale. My nausea is the worst at 1-3 pm. Also staying away from dairy.

It's been so brutal. No vomiting here big constant nausea that is so intense it seems impossible to deal with at times. I try SO HARD to snack but I basically have an aversion to everything ever made it grown. Ginger- which I usually love gave me the worst heartburn and it's all I could taste for hours. I was so bummed because I usually love it. I am a big fan of essential oils and am grateful for the suggestion of mint oil. I will definitely be trying. I don't care if I look nuts. I would sniff a bag of dog poo if it helped at this point. No joke. I can't function!

  • Drink lots of water and make sure you aren't constipated. Dehydration and constipation can make nausea worse.
Love is like infinity: You can't have more or less infinity, and you can't compare two things to see if they're "equally infinite." Infinity just is, and that's the way I think love is, too.

  • I bought some Preggie Drops from Babies R Us. They help to subside my nausea.
  • I've had nausea but no vomiting yet. I did buy some ginger tea in case it hits soon though. I'll be 6 weeks tomorrow.
  • Have any of you nausea ladies tried Sea bands? There is no medication in them it's just a band that goes in your wrists and is recommended for morning sickness/cancer patients/and sea sickness. You can get them at any drug store for around $12 I must say that have helped! A button pushes on your inside wrist and is a pressure point to help the nausea. It could also just be a placebo but it's worth
  • I'm 6w 2d I've been eating sea salted almonds and animal crackers
  • Congratulations!! Ginger chews have been the best thing ever for me...although I'm currently out so I'm spraying Caudalie's Beauty Elixir on my face consistently since it's got some mint in it...but I definitely can't keep that up. I agree with a lot of the other ladies as well when it comes to small, frequent meals. That has made a big difference as well.
  • I'm 2 days short of 9 weeks and have been nauseous for the last 3. Have only thrown up twice but I feel sick 24/7. It's so hard to eat because I have an aversion to anything I think of eating. I am gonna try the ginger candies and the arm bands to see of that helps. What are those preggie drops you guys were mentioning?
  • My go to nausea remedy is club soda with fresh piece of ginger and a lemon wedge squeezed into it.

  • This is what they look like. They basically taste like candy and work wonders for my nausea. I got mine for $4.99 and they come in suckers, too.
  • Start the day with a small breakfast like a banana or some cream of wheat or oat meal and some water. Then finish getting ready or go back to bed if you can. Next eat a little more. Eating every 2 or so hours really helps. Also make sure you get lots of sleep and water. Lemon water also help. I find that room temp water seems to sit the best. Good luck
  • I hope and pray my nausea goes away in the 2nd Tri. I'm 9 weeks today and I think I've forgotten what it feels like to NOT be nauseous 24/7.

If you saw my purse, you'd think have a toddler because of all the little snacks I have to carry around with me. Eating a small snack every few hours is key!
  • I ordered the preggie pop drops this morning! I'm excited to try them!
  • Had my first bout of nausea last night while in the car with hubby. He was terrified that I might upchuck in his car so he pulled over every couple of minutes to be safe. I was able to get rid of the urge to barf and was ok for the rest of the night , but we did stop to get some gingerale.

  • Around 6p it's as if I step onto a boat. Boat docks around 8p then I'm on solid ground til the next day at 6p.

  • I rub peppermint on my tummy. Also diffuse peppermint and lemon. I eat ginger chews and ginger ale. Also a bath with the jets on helps. Sunday morning I had to be to work at 5:00a. All Saturday night I felt so sick. I did this all night, never threw up but only go an hour sleep. Yuck
