How old is LO ? How long between feedings? 6w, 2 hours between feedings day and night with some cluster feeding 6-9pm.

What challenges have you had this week, what solutions did you find ? Can't find time to pump. How do 2U2 moms do it? During the day I'm busy chasing DD1 around. When DD1 goes to bed DD2 is cluster feeding and I usually fall asleep while she nurses.
Raves and rants? Just glad it's going so well after our initial struggles the first 2 weeks.
Have you tried nursing in public yet, where have you fed LO? Any success nursing while Babywearing? I NIP all over town since I'm always out and about with DD1. Kinda felt bad NIP at a bakery with 4 Muslim women covered from head to toe at the table next to me. I don't even use a cover, can't imagine what they must have thought of me! Oh well!

What challenges have you had this week, what solutions did you find ? DS has had a hard time latching and staying on today. Then he doesn't get full and then we're stuck nursing for 3-4 hours strait. Nips are so sore.

Anything else you want to share? If anyone has any tips for OALD other than the usual things (pumping a little beforehand, sitting back while nursing) I'm all ears.

LO is just over 5 weeks. And we feed on demand so it's generally about every 2-3 hours. Except this morning was rough with her wanting to eat every hour.

Felt like my supply was slowing down, so I've added some more pump sessions to try to help pick it back up. Plus I've been taking fenugreek for about a week now.

Glad we finally have some sort of a system for feedings. Pumped bottles at night and breast during the day.

NIP at church last Sunday. They have a family room where it's a little quieter and more private but you can still see the service. No one else was there so we did and worked out really well.

DD is 5 weeks & nurses every 2-3 hours during the day. She gives me a 4-6 hour break at night with one MOTN session.
BF and pumping (stash and DH gives one bottle every other day)
Challenges/Rant: DD must be going through a growth spurt because she wants on the boob all the time and then starts grunting and squirming and then gets frustrated. Solution: let her nurse all the time and have DH gone a pumped milk bottle if she's still acting hungry. She downed 5 oz last night! Rave: I am so proud of myself for making it this far!
Yes, I've nursed at a vineyard, restaurant, state park, and in the car.
We're headed to New England for the upcoming holiday weekend and I'm nervous about driving the 8+ hours with a 6 week old and our dog.
Great. I had so much anxiety about BFing before I had the baby. I'm just so glad I was able to do it
How old is LO ? How long between feedings?
6 weeks. 1.5-2.5 during the day. Every night is different. Got a 6 hour stretch last Saturday. Then back to every 2 hours like clockwork. Now it seems every 3 is the new thing. I think before I was feeding him at any sound that resembled a cry. This morning I waited a minute and he went back to bed. I think he grunts in the MOTN and I think he is hungry.

EBF with the exception of 1 bottle of formula that DH gives him with his first MOTN feeding. I also pump daily to freeze

Nothing really. I have to use a shield but that's a permanent thing

I nurse everywhere with my cover. I've given up the cover around family. They look away until he is latched then I don't care. I don't baby wear but I have mastered BFing while clipping the dog and taking her out to pee

Going on vacation with DHs family next week. There will be 14 of us and we rented an entire bed and breakfast. They are a little uptight and there will be young kids so I'm not sure how BFing will work. It isn't my place to explain in detail to the kids what I'm doing. They are all very nice so I doubt it will be a problem but you never know. I'll prob feed in my room the first few times to give them the chance to explain it. I'm probably overthinking it
How old is LO ? How long between feedings? 7 1/2 weeks. During the day it's anywhere from 1.5-3 hours in between. She clusters at night something fierce! Then we get a 7 hour stretch from the last feeding.
EBF, EP, supplementing? EBF, DH gives 1 pumped BM bottle a day just to have some bonding time.
What challenges have you had this week, what solutions did you find ? Still dealing with reflux symptoms. My LC and I are trying to rule out any other issues before we see the pedi for her 2 month appointment. I'd like to avoid putting her on meds, and I really don't want to cut dairy out of my diet. I'm doing cabbage leaf compresses to help with my OS and OALD. So far it seems to be helping.
Raves and rants? Rant: No matter how many times I tell/show DH (or anyone else for that matter) to give DD her bottle with a paced feeding, they still tilt her back and hold the bottle up. Then he wonders why she still acts hungry after a bottle, or spits up. I'm done trying to micro-manage how everyone takes care of her. They need to figure it out. Rave: I don't want to jinx it, but last night was one of the best nights we've had getting LO to bed. I hope this continues!

A few in the car, once at IHOP, and once on a bench at the zoo. I nurse at friend's houses, but I don't really count that. I can't for the life of me figure out how to nurse her in the k'tan. I can't seem to get her low enough.

I attempt to nurse with every feeding. Sometimes it goes okay, sometimes it ends in a meltdown (both him and I). Either way, I always offer a pumped BM bottle and then I have to pump. So I guess I'm an EPer trying to EBF like my life depends on it.
What challenges have you had this week, what solutions did you find ?
We have been seeing a speech therapist and an LC since LO was 1 week old. He finally was able to latch without a nipple shield and actually transferred almost 4oz during our LC appt this week! But since then he's been soooo fussy with nursing. Haven't found any solutions yet except to keep trying while still attempting to "keep the breast a happy place".

What challenges have you had this week, what solutions did you find ?
DS has hit his 6 week growth spurt so he's been extra cranky and hungry so I'm just feeding on demand. We used to swaddle him for every nap and we are trying to not swaddle him during the day and only swaddle at night so we can start a nighttime routine. It's a catch 22 because DS likes his hands free but then he wakes himself up flailing them or touching his face. His daytime naps are shorter so I'm hoping that means he'll sleep longer at night. He also is only sleeping in his swing this week when he used to sleep in his crib, pnp and bouncer. We are going to try the crib again tonight.

Rant - still feeling like my life revolves around my boobs - when DS last ate/will eat next, when to pump to keep up my supply, what to do about my constantly sore and aching boobs (either nipple soreness from nursing, sore when they are refilling and sore from being too full) and what to wear that disguises the breast pads I have to wear so I don't leak all over whenever DS cries or when I'm too full.

Only in front of family. I haven't tried babywearing at all.
Anything else you want to share? I can't wait to go back to work so we can afford more formula so I can BF less.
Overall very well. The difference between now and 3 weeks ago is major. I don't have the pain I did then and don't dread feedings. Think we hit the 6week growth spurt this week though so it's been non stop nursing
How old is LO ? How long between feedings? 5w4days 1-2 hours over the past few days. Usually 2-3 though. Think we are back on track today (fingers crossed)

What challenges have you had this week, what solutions did you find ? Yesterday and day before were very challenging. LO wanted to eat every 1-2 hours, including overnight. I also had to have minor surgery on my face so was feeling really cruddy on top of no sleep. No solution really. My mom came over and would hold the baby while I took 45 min cat naps btwn feedings. LO finally went 4.5 hours last night.

Rants: Dr tells me not to smile for a week. Right when my little girl is smiling at me and I should be encouraging her with big smiles. Also (NBR) I have to go into work for a few hours tomorrow. A project I thought was due in Aug is due next week!
Raves: it's amazing how good a 3 hour stretch feels. I almost enjoyed last nights MOTN feeding ... Almost
LO finally took a full bottle after almost 2 weeks of only taking the 1st ounce if any. And we are getting smiles.

Hurts 1/2 the time when he latches on to one side but subsides after a minute.

He is 1 month yesterday. Normally 1 1/2- 2 hours. At night he goes about 3 hours.

Rave: I never broke down this time around when he was cluster feeding. With 1st I remember crying because I was so tired. I mentally prepared myself this time.

What challenges have you had this week, what solutions did you find ? No BF challenges, just worried she's not getting enough, but she's had a steady weight gain so I'm sure I'm just paranoid!
Pretty well. I met with a LC to see if there was anything I should be doing differently to impact his gassy tummy. She recommended the probiotic, colic calm etc., so no new ideas really. She did observe that he has a shallow latch. It's not currently impacting anything. He's gaining weight and my nipples are not bothered by it, but she thought it might cause a problem later when my milk production slows (which I didn't realize was going to happen?)
So we 're working to relearn latching which is hard when he just launches himself at the nipple!

4 weeks. Still varies between 1 hour and 3 if he's having a good nap.

I learned that his frantic head shaking during feeding was likely due to my flow slowing down. Switching sides helps.

I've learned if I tuck the A+A blanket in my bra strap, I can create a cape if needed. I do that if I'm in a place that I want to be more discreet.
I'm still not good at babywearing, so I haven't tried to feed in it.
1st BFP-8/17/12! Missed Miscarriage discovered @ 8 week US. D&C.
2nd BFP-2/13/13! Blighted Ovum discovered @ 8 week US. Natural miscarriage.
3rd BFP-5/22/13! By early June, progesterone plummeting. Another loss.
August 2013 - started Donor Egg process, but surprise BFP with my own eggs.
Dear Son born 5/28/14
- Good days and bad days. I've been frustrated with her frantically "bobbing for breast milk" activity so called in a LC to try to figure out what was frustrating her. I thought maybe my supply was not good enough. When the LC came of course she didn't Bob around or pull off and scream. LC measured her 3 oz heavier after a 15 min feeding so I'm guessing I have enough milk; she just doesn't want to work to get it out late in the day when the flow slows down.
How old is LO ? How long between feedings?
- 5 weeks, 2 days. During day average is about 90 min start to start. At night usually 2.5-3 hours; except last night she went 6 hrs! She fed like a fiend for nearly 2 hrs straight before finally conking out at 1am after hours of crying, so not sure what was going on. When I woke up this morning and saw the clock I couldn't believe it! I got scared but she seems to be fine now.

- The LC who came on Wednesday thinks Emily has a type 3 upper lip/tongue tie. While it doesn't seem to affect her latch, the LC hypothesized that it could be causing her to take in more air and that could be wuu she's so gassy. Next step is to visit ENT to see if they recommend correcting it.

- Was pretty happy to know that DD got 3 oz of milk out in a 15 min feeding! LC said that her weight gain is great and I'm doing an excellent job feeding her so frequently on demand.
- Last night was pretty tough. She was Really fussy and would not stop crying or nursing for hours at night. Both my breasts felt totally deflated but she kept wanting more. It was frustrating for her that milk was coming out so slowly (that's what happens after hours of continuous sucking) but she FINALLY fell asleep and we made it thru.

- No success with babywearing at all, let alone nursing while babywearing. On Thursday I had to walk to CVS to puck something up. While there she started fussing for food. The quickest thing I could think to do was walk a couple more blocks to Panera and sit in the back booth area to nurse her. I had my nursing cover but still felt self-conscious. Oh well, we made it!
