Waxing

I'm going to Orlando in July and thinking about getting my armpits and bikini wax so I don't look like Sasquatch. I read that the bikini area is more sensitive and waxing can be really painful and can bleed, so I'm scared. Have you gotten a wax while pregnant? and what was your experience like?

I think that as long as you don't get a brazilian you would be fine. I haven't done waxing while pregnant, but the middle part is the most painful.

I got brazilians this time around and with my first pregnancy (including at 37 weeks in prep for the c-section, which was a good call). A bit extra sensitive, but not bad, kinda like going before your period, but not even that bad for me. You can always start with a bikini and keep going if you want. The bikini part really is the least painful and I'd much rather wax than shave.

Agreed. I got my Brazilian done once a month. I don't find it anymore painful as it was when I wasn't pregnant but maybe as the pregnancy continues it may. Oh well, I'll still be getting mine done once a month.

@keliaqt - For me, it's a bit more painful at the start of the pregnancy than the end. My wax at 37 weeks was one of the less painful ones of pregnancy. So I hope they get easier and not worse for you.

i'm actually going in for my brazilian in a couple of hours. the first two i had while pregnant were more painful than usual, but not so bad that i won't keep going back

Yeah I got mine yesterday and it was painful but no more than it usually is. The pain lasts seconds. It's not like your crotch hurts for hours afterwards.

I've heard when waxing your face that because of your crazy hormones the pigment of your skin can change after a wax. My mom got her mustache (hehe) waxed while she was pregnant and the pigment of skin got really dark afterwards and took some special treatments to get rid of. She looked like she had a perma-stache for months.

Got my normal brazilian before vacation, same girl did it that I always have and I didn't notice anything different. Totally worth it instead of shaving, go for it!

I think every person is different. I use to work at a spa and some of the regular clients said it was just like normal and some of them left the room in tears and many of them screamed. So I guess the only way to find out is to just go for it

I've never had a wax! I have been thinking about it though since it will be a hard to see/reach area in a few months. I'm not sure that I'm scared of the pain as much as I am the embarrassment of the whole process.

@lionyloo32‌ these women see this all day long, just like the gyno does. Be sure to research the place you're going to. I go to European wax center. It's a chain and they have stores all over the country. They give discounts for first timers too but I find them to be very safe and sanitary. If you Google European wax center, check out their website and read up on their services and products and you can get the coupon for discounted first time service and see if there is a location near you.

I don't use that company, but I do use places with hard wax. It's more common now and we have great wax places as I live a city with colleges (I find that helps). Yelp and other review sites are your friends here.

Thanks! I've actually seen an ad for European wax center in the ladies room before! I think I'm going to have to suck it up and go .... I really don't want to be a hairy mess come December!!
