I was in a car accident lady week and have had a horrid pain in my hip/ pelvis ever since. In the ER they took a X-ray making sure I didn't have a pelvic fracture. The pain subsided only to return with vengeance on a day I walked a lot at work. I called my OB who told me to see an orthopedic and maybe get a MRI. Now the pain is on my left side pretty much in the crevice of my leg and pelvis but higher and toward the front not a groin area. How would they ever protect baby to do a MRI ? Can that be safe? What would you do? I'm afraid the pain will only get worse but also that it's nothing and km subjecting the little one to unnecessary tests. What a freaking nightmare this accident has been !
Re: To MRI or not to MRI
However, to calm your mind right now maybe this would help? https://www.acog.org/Resources_And_Publications/Committee_Opinions/Committee_on_Obstetric_Practice/Guidelines_for_Diagnostic_Imaging_During_Pregnancy It seems MRI does not use radiation like an X-ray would.
I hope you can get some relief from the pain. That sounds awful.
I actually work as a CT & MRI tech, MRI is safe during pregnancy. The techs would just probably have the reading radiologist approve it. If you have further ?s, your ob or even a radiologist could answer them. And like pp said, no radiation is involved, unlike X-ray or CT. Good luck-hope you are feeling better soon!
