SO naps and sleep: how many naps does LO take a day?

How old is LO, how many naps do they take, and what is their longest stretch of sleep at night?

While every baby is different (obviously), as our LOs are all *roughly* the same age (though of course difference of a few weeks makes a difference), I'd nonetheless be really interested to see if a pattern emerges between napping and sleeping through the night.

We have been following LO's cues...we feed him when he's hungry, and put him down when he's sleepy. He had settled into a rhythm but this week has started taking these 3-4 hour marathon naps twice a day and is up twice at night. While we do plan to continue to follow his cues, I also have no problem starting to try to nudge him into some semblance of a routine if it will help him sleep better at night-- especially before I go back to work in three short weeks!

So...those with good sleepers-- what's the nap situation? Eager to see what others' experiences are.

  • DS is 8 weeks and sleeps from 10-2, 2:30-5 then naps 3 times a day. His nap times are pretty erratic but I'm not returning to work so I just go with it.

At night DD sleeps from about 8:30-6:00. Then she may sleep for another hour after eating but it is hit or miss. It depends on how active our house is by the time she finishes eating.

She takes one short morning nap, then a long nap from about 11-1, then the afternoons are hit or miss. Usually two more naps after the long one. They are each 30-45 mins.

    ETA: DD is 2 months

  • Night: 10-5, 5-8

    Naps: 11-12/12:30 and 2-4ish

Snoozes here and there in the evening.

  • She is two months tomorrow. Sleeps at night 7-4, and than till between 7-8. She usually has 4 naps, ranging from 30 minutes to an hour and a half. Often one nap is in the car seat or carrier while on the go with ds.

  • DS is 2.5 months and no where near a predictable schedule yet. Some days he won't nap all morning and then just sleeps the entire afternoon, other days he just take 45 mins ones all day long, other days he'll sleep in 2-3 hours stretches... it's totally random.
Before 3 nights ago, he was sleeping 3-4 hour stretches at night. The last 3 nights he has slept from 7:00 pm to 2:00-ish am, so a 7-ish hour stretch, which is heavenly. Then another 3-ish hour stretch, and he's usually up around 5:00/6:00 am, which is when my DD gets up anyways, so I don't mind :)

    Age: 10.5 weeks
Nightime sleep: 7-3 and 3:30-6:30ish, regardless of nap situation.
Naps: usually a solid 3/4 hour nap around lunchtime, sometimes 2 and sometimes none. No nap for several days in a row means growth spurt for her.

  • Emma is 2.5 months. She takes 4-5 thirty-forty minute naps during the day. After 1.5 hours of being awake, she's ready for the pacifier and nap.

At night she has a bottle between 8-9 wakes between 4-5 for another bottle and then sleeps 3 more hours.

Mine takes 3-4 naps per day. She is only up for almost exactly 1 hour and fifteen minutes before she wants to go down for another nap. Sleeps 7:30 pm- 6:30am with a dream feed at 11.

  • At night she sleeps 8-2 and then 2:30-7:30. Naps are kind of erratic. Usually every hour and a half she's ready for one and it can last anywhere from 30 min to 2 hours. By this point with my son he was on a consistent napping schedule (it was like 9-11:30am, 1:00-3:30pm and then a short evening one like 5:30-6:00), but he was a terrible night sleeper (up 4-6 times a night) so I'm just going to continue to follow this LO's cues.

  • I don't know what I would do if E napped for longer than an hour!

  • Almost 3 months, 3-4 naps on typical days, and anywhere between 7 and 10 hours a night.
  • 11 weeks today, he goes to bed at 10 pm (marathon battle that start at 8 pm). He is up at 12-1, 3-4, 6-7. He naps about 3-4 times a day with usually one at least 2-3 hours long. I sure wish I could get him to drop at least 1 wake up at night, I would gladly sacrifice a nap!
  • 7 weeks. We are STTN pretty consistently from 10-6. Usually a 1-2 hour morning nap, and a 2-3 hour afternoon nap, and then the evening are very inconsistent. Sometimes he takes a few short cat naps. Sometimes he gets another long nap. Sometimes he doesn't nap and is totally happy. Sometimes he doesn't nap and is a nightmare. He is so predictable and awesome all day, but the evenings are a crap shoot.

  • LO is 2 months and takes about 3-4 naps a day between feedings, varying in time. Sometimes cat naps, sometimes an hour to 2 hours.

Night time is 6:00/7:00 pm to midnight, 12:30 am to 3:00 and 3:30 am to 6:00 am. Sometimes she will skip the midnight wake up and go until 2:00 am and then 2:30 am to 5:30/6:00 am.

I go back to work next week and these 2 night feedings are going to kill me!!
  • LO is 10 weeks
She sleeps from 10:30p til 6:30a (sometimes getting up slightly earlier or later).

She has a long nap in the early morning, then a shorter one later in the morning.  Naps diminish to nothing by late afternoon.  But I will take sleeping through the night as a tradeoff!
  • What are your secrets???!! DS is 11 weeks and still sleeps 8-11, 12 or 1 then till 5 then 5-8 or 9. While that last 3 hours are nice how do you get them to STTN??! DS is EBF. Are those of you who are sleeping 7-8 hours FF?

I didn't really "do" anything special, it just started happening. I am mostly EBF, but we supplement about 6-8 ounces of pumped or formula a day as needed (but that is decreasing too, now he usually only needs 2-4). The only thing I can think of is that we've had him in his crib in his room from day one, so I didn't jump up at the first little sound during the night, so he has learned to self soothe pretty well. But I know other moms have their LO in their own room too and need to get up frequently, so maybe that has nothing to do with it. I really don't know!

  • For the past week, my LO has gotten very predictable with his sleeping patterns (he's 10w3d).

    Night: 8:30pm-1:00am, 1:30am-3:00am, 3:15am-6:30am

    Naps: 8:00am-10:10am, 12noon-12:30pm, 2:00pm-4:30pm, 6:45pm-7:00pm
