How old is LO, how many naps do they take, and what is their longest stretch of sleep at night?
While every baby is different (obviously), as our LOs are all *roughly* the same age (though of course difference of a few weeks makes a difference), I'd nonetheless be really interested to see if a pattern emerges between napping and sleeping through the night.
We have been following LO's cues...we feed him when he's hungry, and put him down when he's sleepy. He had settled into a rhythm but this week has started taking these 3-4 hour marathon naps twice a day and is up twice at night. While we do plan to continue to follow his cues, I also have no problem starting to try to nudge him into some semblance of a routine if it will help him sleep better at night-- especially before I go back to work in three short weeks!
So...those with good sleepers-- what's the nap situation? Eager to see what others' experiences are.
Re: SO naps and sleep: how many naps does LO take a day?
She takes one short morning nap, then a long nap from about 11-1, then the afternoons are hit or miss. Usually two more naps after the long one. They are each 30-45 mins.
ETA: DD is 2 months
Naps: 11-12/12:30 and 2-4ish
Snoozes here and there in the evening.
Night: 9:30-3:30, 4-7, and sometimes 7:30-9
Day: 10:30-12:30, 2:30-4:30, and one or two 30 min naps between 5 and 7.
Nightime sleep: 7-3 and 3:30-6:30ish, regardless of nap situation.
Naps: usually a solid 3/4 hour nap around lunchtime, sometimes 2 and sometimes none. No nap for several days in a row means growth spurt for her.
At night she has a bottle between 8-9 wakes between 4-5 for another bottle and then sleeps 3 more hours.
Night time is 6:00/7:00 pm to midnight, 12:30 am to 3:00 and 3:30 am to 6:00 am. Sometimes she will skip the midnight wake up and go until 2:00 am and then 2:30 am to 5:30/6:00 am.
I go back to work next week and these 2 night feedings are going to kill me!!
She sleeps from 10:30p til 6:30a (sometimes getting up slightly earlier or later).
She has a long nap in the early morning, then a shorter one later in the morning. Naps diminish to nothing by late afternoon. But I will take sleeping through the night as a tradeoff!
I didn't really "do" anything special, it just started happening. I am mostly EBF, but we supplement about 6-8 ounces of pumped or formula a day as needed (but that is decreasing too, now he usually only needs 2-4). The only thing I can think of is that we've had him in his crib in his room from day one, so I didn't jump up at the first little sound during the night, so he has learned to self soothe pretty well. But I know other moms have their LO in their own room too and need to get up frequently, so maybe that has nothing to do with it. I really don't know!
Night: 8:30pm-1:00am, 1:30am-3:00am, 3:15am-6:30am
Naps: 8:00am-10:10am, 12noon-12:30pm, 2:00pm-4:30pm, 6:45pm-7:00pm
