Hi lovely ladies of August 2014,
I have a tickle in my brain that this has been discussed on our board before, but couldn't find it. We just got back from our 20 week anatomy scan and everything checked out great, as well as us finding out we're Team Blue!

The perinatologist did let us know there's one thing they want to watch - the baby has mild pyelectasis which is extra fluid in the kidneys. They want to keep an eye on it and have me come back in 12 weeks. He said it's more common in boys, and that it usually resolves on its own. He also said it's a very soft marker for Downs Syndrome, but that because all of our other testing came back negative, he still considers us very low-risk and doesn't recommend any extra testing. We booked the next ultrasound with him in 12 weeks and I am fully trusting the perinatologist that it is common and not a big deal. Just curious to see if anyone else had this same result and how you're feeling about it.
Thank you

Re: Let me know if this has been discussed recently - mild pyelectasis?
Hi! I just did a search on the topic, and your post came up. Im 21 wks today, and like yourself at my 20 wk ultrasound, I was told my baby girl is healthy and normal, but that there was some mild fluid retention in one of her kidneys ( I think I heard mild swelling). Doc said he wasn't concerned and that I shouldn't either bc its pretty common. He did tell me he'd have to readjust my down syndrome stats, which were very low anyway. That sent me spiraling into worry
OB advised she was able to offer M21 test now if I wanted just to reassure me, but that she wasn't saying I should. I took it anyway just to ease my mind... Hoping her little kidney gets better when I go for next check...
