Eating dates in late pregnancy ... Anyone else heard this?

My doula tells her clients to eat dates everyday at the end of pregnancy because it may help have an easier birth. I like dates anyway, so why not.

It's even been studied, although seems like a pretty small test group to me.

Anyone else heard about this? Any STMs eat dates in a prior pregnancy and think it did anything?

  • If you want to try the dayes thing, add them to a smoothie, with fruit and veggies, you get the dates and not the flavor... :) good luck!

Started TTC in 2006, LOTS of trying, and trying, and 7 rounds of IVF with 13 embryos, 2 perfect little boys and 5 loses....
All finished with babies, started to make diet changes, Keto, to be MORE for my kids, lost 30 pounds, still going, and 3 months in, I had a natural cycle, and then ovulated... Hubs and I are going to see what happens now... Maybe a natural pregnancy? After everything we have been through? Or just a return to normal hormones? We shall see what the future holds!

  • I might try this, but mainly bc I do like dates. Supposedly pineapple is another thing that's supposed to encourage labor. I don't think it worked, but I ate a lot of pineapple anyway toward the end of third tri since I like it.

My midwives specifically told me not to drink raspberry leaf tea at some point this pregnancy, though I'm not sure why not. They also cautioned against any other herbal teas, though were fine with me continuing to drink green tea (not for pregnancy benefits, just bc I like it). I don't really like raspberry leaf tea so will probably skip that one.
  • Larabars all have dates in them!!
  • Please don't forget to do that @stoofewok! I am very interested :)

    Just for you @kshare18

I'm not sure if this is the exact recipe I made before, but it looks close enough. The second link is to a site I haven't tried the recipes from, but they all look simple and basically like the first one. It was super easy to make and they were so delicious. I will say, though, that my bars did not stay as bars...it ended up being more of a crumble, but was just as delicious.

Okay. I'm making three million of these.

  • My gync also told that eat dates which helps to ease the labor. Anyway I eat 3-4 dates per day. dates contains proteins, fiber, many vitamins and low in fat. It contains vitamin K plays a key role in blood clotting and keeping the bones strong.
