My past due, Team Green, big baby birth story

For those interested, here is the abbreviated version.

I was scheduled to be induced on 6/16 (41w6d) at 7:30 am. Lo and behold I began having stronger contractions at 5:00 am that started in my back and felt like the real deal, although they were fairly irregular. Called L&D who advised me to come on in. I showered, packed up, and we arrived at 6:30 am. My room was ready and waiting and we bypassed triage. I changed, met our nurse, settled in- was checked by the OB resident and was 5cm, 90% and having regular contractions- I was in labor! Got my epi around 10:00 am and relaxed. Once I reached 7-8 cm, they broke my water. My OB checked me around 1:00 pm and I was complete but baby at 0 station. We decided to let baby descend before I started pushing. My OB came back in 20-30 min and we were ready to go. I pushed through 3 contractions and he was out! The minute my OB held him up she said "he's big- this baby is over 10 lbs". 10 lbs 9 oz and 24 inches big to be exact. I had a 1st degree tear which only required one stitch. James was immediately placed on my chest for skin to skin and DH and I had about 90 minutes to ourselves with him. Congrats to all the J14 moms and to those past due- hang in there!! It is so worth the wait.
