Re: November Twins+ Check in 6/23

  • It was a l-o-n-g weekend for me with a pre-family reunion pizza night Friday and a family reunion at the park on Saturday. Got a little too much sun (despite being in the shade) and am still paying for it. Migraine from hell resulting in calling out from work today. I feel like such a wuss, but trying not to push myself.

FTM, but I think I've been feeling flutters (starting close to 17 weeks), especially at night when I switch sides. I imagine it's the babies protesting being shuffled around in there. Like, "Mom! Why don't we have ohshit handles!?" DH has been spending a lot of time with his hands on my abdomen hoping to feel something, but I think it's just too early.

My next appointment, which will be my a/s, is June 10th.

GTKY: These babies will be first, second and (almost certainly) last for us. We had to go through IVF to get these, though we do have one frozen embryo left, I don't think we have room for another one. Will see how we feel as these babies grow up, but it will be entirely up to that last frozen embryo. We won't go through IVF again.

Thanks @absolutelymaybe for the check in! I can relate to the migraines, I've been getting them too - they are awful. I've never had them before this pregnancy. Hope they get easier for you soon!

I've been feeling flutters since about week 16. Nothing consistent yet, I'm anxious for DH to feel them too! I'm noticing I run out of energy & get exhausted so easily now. Here's to a lazy summer ;)

QOTW: These babies are also our first/second. If we didn't have to go through IVF, we'd probably be open to having one more a few years down the road (I'm only 26). As of now, I don't see us going through IVF again. This pregnancy took us multiple attempts - I can't imagine reliving that. Time will tell though.

It's twin girls!! Born on 11-2-14!

We had our AS last week. Babies look great! And I am always nervous they are going to let the sex slip but we are happily still team green. Have you started feeling uncomfortable? Any flutters yet? Anything you'd like to vent about or AW? Definitely feeling them move around. Have felt them occasionally over the past few weeks but quite a lot today. Are these babies your first? If not, how many LOs do you have? Do you plan to have more children? These will be #2 and #3. We have the coolest almost 16 month old DD. Definitely no more babies after these. 3 feels like enough to us (we'd only ever planned on two) plus we're 40 and 42 so it's time to shut down the shop. :)

  • Good Evening other twin mommies!!!!
I am feeling very uncomfortable this past week, my back, legs and stomach are sore. I have been feeling a good amount of flutters. I can't wait until the full kicks and punches start :)

Well I am a little hormonal, my Fiancé started back to working nights this week, he has a job that he has the option to do all shifts but working for different bosses. He was doing days but isn't a big fan of the day job boss. I am really upset about it because he works 10hr shifts and has a 2hr commute, so family time is limited. I had a stroke 2 months ago and I get nervous being alone with both kids while being pregnant at night. It is harder to reach people if a problem arises. He doesn't think I am being supportive... I am just frustrated. Am I overreacting?

Moving on I am really pumped about the AS on Friday afternoon. Really excited to find out what these little bumps are!!!!!!!!

These are not my first babies, I have a 9 year old daughter, An 8month old daughter. So these will be babies 3 and 4.... I have an 8 year gap and a 4 month gap!! Lol talk about crazy! Now Twins!

    @absolutelymaybe‌ Thanks!!!!! :)
  • Have you started feeling uncomfortable? I still get exhausted easy.

Any flutters yet? yes, babies are kicking right now.  Most are really low, but occasionally I get a high kick.

Anything you'd like to vent about or AW? A little over 2 weeks ago I had an appointment at 17 weeks and measured 23 weeks.  On Friday, 2 weeks later, I had another appointment at 19 weeks.  I measured 29.5 weeks.  I am in shock.  I am curious on how everyone else is measuring.

    ...and a random GTKY question...

Are these babies your first? If not, how many LOs do you have? Do you plan to have more children?  These will be 2 & 3. I have 1 little girl who will be 2 around the time they are born.  DH wants to be done.  I kind of want another.

    @absolutelymaybe‌ 'ohshit' handles! Love it!!

Very much looking forward to our A/S on Friday.

Haven't felt much in the way of flutters, but at my OB appt a couple of weeks ago, I learned they both have anterior placentas, which probably explains it. Boo.

It is absolutely crazy to think there is a good chance I am halfway there, at 19w tomorrow!

These are babies 1 and 2 for us. We had been through IF testing, and had decided we would go through treatment for this one, and then just not prevent in the future, until/if we were ready for more.

Turns out, the polyp removing hysteroscopy did something right, because after 2 years, instead of calling the RE to report CD1, and start our first medicated cycle (IUI), I called to report our surprise BFP.

We will have to discuss if we would like to stick with our plan to not prevent, or if the surprise BFP changes things. We are each middle children (of 3) so I think we could try for one more? Who knows :)
  • Have you started feeling uncomfortable? Any flutters yet? Anything you'd like to vent about or AW?

My back started killing me this past week.  I am fine most of the time but as soon as I sit down or try to relax, my back seems to tense up and I cannot find a comfortable position.  Ever since my scan last Tuesday, I have been feeling tiny movements in my lower abdomen and since the girls are both head down, I am assuming they are little punches.  It is mostly when I am in bed and finally quiet for the night.

Are these babies your first? If not, how many LOs do you have? Do you plan to have more children?

These will be babies #2 and #3 for us.  If I were ten years younger (I am 37), I would probably want two more children after these twins.  However, because I am 37, we will have these three and be done.  My body hates being pregnant and I just cannot imagine putting myself through this again and being closer to 40.  Also, having a nearly three year old DS is putting me through the wringer, so that is also excellent birth control against having more kids!  HA!

    DS born August 2011
    TWINS are on the way!
  • @morrkim Hi! :) FTM brain here - are you talking about belly measurement? OB measured my belly at 17w4d and it was measuring about 5 weeks ahead. He said this was normal, but I was surprised too!

It's twin girls!! Born on 11-2-14!

  • @morrkim‌ - I haven't been measured yet. I'm very curious, though. Maybe next time!
  • We have another ultrasound Thursday, I counting down the days, love getiing to seem them and how much they've grown!

Have you started feeling uncomfortable?I am having difficulty sleeping, I can never get comfortable, constantly tossing and turning. It seems that whenever i do find a comfortable position, thats when i have to get up and use the restroom!

Any flutters yet? I definitely am feeling strong flutters, I have been for the past couple weeks:)

Are these babies your first? This will be number 4 and 5 for us! Do you plan to have more children? This will be it for us, we will have a house full:)

Have you started feeling uncomfortable? I've been uncomfortable for a couple weeks now, mostly at night.  Some are worse than others, Sunday night I couldn't sleep and my joints hurt and I was absolutely miserable.  I'm trying a prenatal yoga class today to see if that may help.

Any flutters yet? I think I feel flutters from time to time, but nothing regular.  I'm ready to feel these babies!  @absolutelymaybe my OB said it wouldn't be until about 24 weeks that DH will be able to feel them moving, just an FYI for your DH!

Are these babies your first? If not, how many LOs do you have? Do you plan to have more children? These are our first and second, I plan on getting through the first few years or so before thinking about more kids.  I always wanted a big family but we'll see how we are financially, etc.

@zamboni00 and @amandakea15 Good luck at the a/s Friday, I'll be thinking of you during mine :)

@morrkim I haven't been told how I'm measuring, but I remember at my first appointment my OB said by 28 weeks it's common to measure 40 weeks... I definitely feel like I look bigger than a regular person at 20 weeks!

Also, side question for everyone, I'm wondering if your OB or MFM has said much about weight gain? My OB hasn't talked about it at all, but all the reading I've done mentions gaining 24 lbs by 24 weeks helps to prevent preterm birth (I haven't seen a MFM). Anyone getting this info?

    Have a great week ladies!

@amandakea15 - So sorry to hear about your stroke! That must be terrifying! I hope everything is OK. Considering your medical condition, I don't think you're over reacting at all. I would be really nervous being left alone when it's difficult to reach people!

@ktibbits1 - Let me know how prenatal yoga goes! I am trying to find a class near where I live.

ETA: Sorry I just saw you had a question about weight.

My OB hasn't said much about weight, just during our initial appointment that the average is about 35-50 lb, but some people gain more and some gain less and not to worry about it. Now, when you say you've been reading, I'm guessing you are referring to the Dr. Luke phenomenon which is all, "GAIN! MORE! FASTER!" That's one school of thought and, yes, according to her studies it seems to be working for those moms. With that said, I've read plenty of moms who didn't gain weight early (like Dr. Luke wants you to) or didn't gain as much and they went on to have healthy babies.

I take Dr. Luke's advice with a grain of salt. I'm eating and I am certainly not worried about gaining too much weight (hell, I've somehow managed to gain 17 lb in 17 weeks so I'm right on track, according to her). But right now, I'm just focused on trying to be as healthy as I can WITH the exception that I am trying to get more protein in my diet (something I am probably lacking anyway). I'm not stressing over it though.

@ktibbits1 I also read the 24 pounds by 24 weeks. My dr said that 30-35 total would be good for twins (I am normal weight). I'm guessing that's about right with the 24/24 thing. I know with DD my weight gain slowed a lot the last 5 or so weeks. I've gained 15 pounds so far and am 19 weeks, but have been super hungry lately so I think that I will probably be gaining a bit more rapidly now...
    image
  • @ktibbits1‌ thank you!!! Good luck to you as well!!!!! The A/S is so exciting!!!! @absolutelymaybe‌ yes the whole experience was extremely scary and I think I am having a little anxiety over it. I am trying to take it one day at a time, my fiancé is a wonderful man but sometimes he just doesn't get it!

  • EDD/Weeks- Nov 28- 17 weeks

Have you started feeling uncomfortable? Any flutters yet? Anything you'd like to vent about or AW?

Not feeling uncomfortable at all.  Just getting noticeably bigger and belly is starting to itch.  As for flutters, very few movements only feeling when it seems both move.

    ...and a random GTKY question...

These babies are my second and third. We have a wonderful son who is 8 months.  I do NOT plan on having anymore lol.

@absolutelymaybe I have only gained 8 pounds so far but thats ok because i have 5 that i hadnt completely lost from my last pregnancy. My docs says my weight gain is pretty good. Thanks for the summary of what ppl are having thats awesome to know!
