MONEY :(

So my boyfriend and I have been cutting down on our spending, but I'm still freaking out about money! I have less than $1,000 left in my bank account (paid off some bills right before we found out we were pregnant).... and I am officially moving in soon so I will have to help pay rent. Any suggestions? Can you give me more information about state aid? Anything will be appreciated!

Re: MONEY :(

  • Where are you living now that is rent-free? Do you have a job? Do you have health insurance?

Ask to speak to the billing/finance people at your next doctor appointment, they can give you information on WIC, etc.

  • What state do you live in?

I would start at your state DHS website and search for services that may pertain to you - Medicaid, housing and food assistance, etc. Also check your local WIC office.

  • I think there's a lot of information that needs to be filled in here before anyone can give you good advice. For the most part, when people need to replenish their bank accounts, they rely on their paychecks to provide that refill. Are you not working right now? Are you able to? That would be your best bet on how to get out of that problem.

If for some reason you are unable to work, that's a different story. Are you disabled? Different programs exist for different situations.

  • I suggest getting a job if you don't already have one.  If you are working and the income just isn't enough, is your boyfriend steadily employed?  If between both your incomes, the rent of the apartment and your regular bills are too much, maybe you could find a place with lower rent?  If all of the above aren't enough, then like PP have said, there's WIC and other state aid often available based on need.  Honestly though, you could find this all out on google.
