**** BFP WARNING **** If you're not up to reading about BFPs today, please scroll past the announcement at the end of this message, which is bracketed by these: =====.

This is a weekly check-in for those who have lost an angel with a November EDD. If you would like to be added to our group, please reply to this message with your EDD and date and stage of loss. Please also tell us a little bit about yourself and your TTCAL journey so far. Those with loss dates in November are also welcome. As time goes on, it is only to be expected that there will be graduates, which means that there will at times be BFPs listed here. On weeks when we do have a BFP to celebrate, you’ll see a warning at the top of the page, which is provided so you’ll have the option of scrolling past the announcement if you need to. If you do get your BFP, please PM me so that we can congratulate you appropriately in the next check-in.

General Updates: How are you doing? Any appointments or other updates you’d like to share?

Shout outs: If you aren't listed, we haven’t heard from you for a week or two. Please jump in!

@katydid2014, Are you still fighting that cold? I know you're nearing the end of the 2WW... FX for you! Also, FYI, Apothecary by Design is going to end up saving me $100 on my Ovidrel for this cycle compared to what I was paying for it from Mandell's. So, thank you for the info!
@denamaree, How are you? Was today your final beta draw?
@LittleMrsW, How are things going now that you're off the bench? GL!
@tlc35, I'm sorry AF made her appearance for you last week as well. ((HUGS)). How are you doing this week?
@swedishbee, I'm glad AF arrived so that you're now that much closer to TTC again soon. How are you doing this week?
@raelynn71109, ((HUGS)) again for the 2nd D&C last week. How did that go? How are you doing now?
@littlecookie, Did your BW confirm that negative beta last week? What's the status of the blood work you've been waiting to do?
@mara005, Thanks for your kind thoughts on my CD1. I just love you, lady! Looks like you're still gearing up to O. Sorry. I know the waiting is so hard. But, I'm glad to see your AO cycle from this winter hasn't become a recurring thing. GL to you this cycle.
@ReadheadRunning, I'm so glad you're feeling so optimistic and pleased with the new RE. It sounds like IUI is in your plans for the near future. In the meantime, are you trying naturally right now, or waiting until after you have that mid-cycle U/S in July and get a subsequent plan from the RE?
@sarcaztic10, I'm sorry about CD1 on Saturday ((HUGS)), especially becuase at one point it did seem like maybe you'd O-ed late last week. I know it was a long and crazy cycle, though, so I'm glad that at least that is over with. If it's any comfort, AF arrived for me on the same day as you. If both our cycles weren't so unpredictable, I'd say we may be cycle buddies this time around.
@MrsKush1014, How are you? I hope you're feeling a little less overwhelmed and behind this week. Is your cycle still acting wonky this month?
@scrang74, How are things going this week? Did you end up talking any further with your soon-to-be hubby about his concerns regarding starting to TTC again? ((HUGS)). None of this is easy.
@sunflwra, How was your follow-up appointment yesterday? Were you able to get a plan in place for testing?
@HMR11913, How are you this week?
@wlendyld, again, welcome to the check-in, and I'm sorry for your loss. ((HUGS)). How are things going for you this week?
@soon to be mrs pham, welcome. I'm so sorry for your loss of your November 2013 angel. My EDD was 2 days after yours. ((HUGS)).

New members. Please join me in welcoming two new ladies who joined us last week: @wendyld and @soon to be mrs pham. We're so sorry you have to be here, but glad you found us. ((HUGS)).

QOTW: Do you have friends in real life who have also experienced loss? If so, have you shared any of your experience with them?

Re: /|\ November angels check-in 6/24 /|\

  • @HeyMrsPotter - thanks for the check-in!

@katydid2014 - good luck on Saturday, we're here for you so you aren't testing alone!!

Biggest news here is that our follow up appointment yesterday made me feel really positive.

Thankfully things are physically looking good, so I'm returning to work next Monday. My OB also took our blood samples to start the chromosomal testing. Results will be back in 2-3 weeks and that will help us determine our next steps as well as if we should be seeing a MFM or RE. If it's found to be chromosomal from DH or I, we'll meet with a genetic counselor and it will likely be recommended that we move forward to IVF with PGD.

We're also scheduled for full clotting disorder testing in 6 weeks (have to wait until all of the HCG is out of my system). Since we don't seem to have issues getting pregnant and are making it past first tri, we're hoping the chromosomal testing will give us some answers or at least help us rule a bunch of things out.

We're on the bench until we have a better idea of what's going on but at least this makes me feel like we're being productive and proactive with the down time. After back to back 2nd tri losses, it will be nice to hopefully have some answers.

Also- on a side note- I went for a long overdue mani/pedi today and it was FANTASTIC!  There is something to be said for pretty feet making you feel a little better :)

Hope everyone is having a good week!

    BFP #1- 4/2011; DD Brynn born 12/2011

BFP #2- 7/13; EDD- 4/2/14; Lost DS at 20 weeks (11/16/13) due to cord accident

BFP #3- 3/14; EDD- 11/28/14; Lost DD at 15 weeks (6/7/14)- cause unknown

To my angels- I held you every second of your lives and I'll love you every second of mine.

  • My update: AF arrived Sunday, which was disappointing. But it's been a year since we have been trying again following our loss. Sadly, I'm getting used to it. On a brighter note, I went in for a baseline ultrasound today, and the cyst that caused our last IUI to be cancelled is now gone. So, we'll do treatment again this cycle. In other good news, I got to spend time this weekend with my bestie from high school. She's the kind of friend who I can not see for years, but when we do reconnect, we pick up right where we left off. The time with her was just what I needed.

QOTW: I know some people who have had losses years ago, but none of them are still TTC now--each for various reasons. They mostly seem to have moved on. I know they are very sympathetic, and they remember what it's like to go through it, but they can't always relate to where I'm at at this point.

Thanks for the checkin @heymrspotter,  I was also hoping when you didn't update that it was good news ((Hugs)), but I'm glad you had a fun weekend with friends.
@tlc35, I'm sorry AF made her appearance for you last week as well. ((HUGS)). How are you doing this week?
Honestly it has been a rough week for me.  This is our first cycle with hope and the BFN brought back a lot of the emotions from the loss.  Add to that, I am away from my H for work.  I haven't been able to find a job where we live so I have been traveling and working as an independent contractor.  I initially told them I wasn't interested in this particular job because I didn't want to be away so much, and then after the BFP I decided to take it so I could save up for leave.  Then by the time of the loss I was already committed.  Also today I turn 37 so getting older and being away sucks.  The next time I will see H is CD 18 so I hope I don't O before then.  Based on past cycles it could go either way.
    Sorry for the novel

QOTW: Do you have friends in real life who have also experienced loss? If so, have you shared any of your experience with them? So the last week I was home I had lunch with a new friend.  It was the first time we have spent together not in a big group.  We were talking about jobs and kids and I told her what happened (I just felt the need to bring it up, plus margaritas) and she told me that before she was married to her H they had a surprise pregnancy and then a loss and it was really hard to get all excited and then get let down.  It was nice to talk to someone who understood IRL.

    Thanks for the check-in @HeyMrspotter!

    Welcome @wendyld and @soontobemrspham

My second D&C went smoothly. They did a hysteroscopy as well to make sure they got everything this time. I was surprised at how heavily I was bleeding when I woke up, given that I've gone through one D&C and a dose of Cytotec already. I'm still bleeding moderately and hoping it ends soon. 6 weeks of bleeding/spotting sucks! My follow up appointment is next week.

QOTW: I don't have any close friends who have gone through a loss, but I do have some co-workers who have. Many of them reached out to me when I was going through my loss. Sadly, one coworker (she's 45) told me that she has had multiple losses and that's why she doesn't have any kids.

  • I did go for my final beta check today, but quite frankly know it wasn't necessary. Today is eleven weeks post D&C and my period showed up with a vengeance! No beta number can convince me this isn't a true period. The blood is filling a pad a 1/2 hour (sorry if it's to much info) and the cramps are kicking my butt. And yet I'm SO happy it finally came! We now get to wait for my July cycle (hopefully it will come in 31 days) as we booked a Las Vegas vacation that would definitely coincide with possibly ovulating (if the clomid works the first month I use it and the ovulation is between CD13 and CD17).

  • @HeyMrsPotter - I'm sorry about AF and the TTCAL anniversary.  Yay for the cyst update though and I totally understand those long time besties that you can just pick up whenever like no time has passed :)

@tlc35 - happy birthday!  I turned 36 last Monday, so I get the feeling of age adding up on you.  Plus with the job travel and being away from DH, it's just no fun.  Hoping things get better for you soon!

@raelynn71109 - good news about the smooth D&C but I'm sorry about the heavy bleeding. I've had to do inductions with both of my losses instead of D&Cs but from the stories I've heard, other than some really horrible labor type cramps on and off for a few weeks, it seems like the recovery is a bit easier.  At least with the cramps I've got really good drugs!

QOTW: I realized I didn't answer this.  Unfortunately I don't have anyone close IRL that has gone through a loss. Just another reason why you guys are such a wonderful support!

@sunflwra  Thank you so much, that is the sweetest thing you could have said.  :)  And good luck with all of your testing.  I hope you are able to get some answers.

@HeyMrsPotter  I'm sorry that AF showed up for you again but I'm glad that your cyst is gone! Hopefully you will have success with your next cycle of treatment!

@katydid2014 - Sure thing hon!  Some of my internet group friends have been the first to know about my BFPs and my losses, even before my husband with one of my BFPs while I figured out how I wanted to tell him- so I totally get it!

  • thank you for bringing me into this group.

My neighbor (who has been my friend for about fifteen years) has lost two babies. I find it hard to talk to her however because she has mentioned in the past that she never wanted to have kids. she was more relieved than sad... she told me i could talk to her about it but i just can't...

@HeyMrsPotter Thanks as always for the check-in, hugs to you for AF and the added milestone. No fun at all. At least there was some good mixed in with that bad, here's hoping the cysts don't make a return.

Welcome to the new recruits, so sorry for your losses, we have a pretty great support network here.

    @katydid2014 Fingers crossed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@sunflwra I'm so glad the appointment went well and you are feeling good about things, especially while on the bench. Jealous of your mani too!

@tlc35 Sending big hugs your way as well, I hope you were able to treat yourself for your bday while out of town.

@raelynn71109 I was so relieved to hear things went well last week. Here's hoping things calm down soon.

@DenaMaree Isn't it weird to suddenly be excited for AF?

AFM: I scheduled my monitoring appointment with the new RE for next Sunday (cd14) as AF (post-loss #2) arrived, with a vengeance I might add, on Monday. (At our appointment last week he said he wouldn't be surprised if that retained tissue worked itself out this cycle and I'm 99% sure it has) DH and I are both on board for trying on our own this cycle as I suspect I'll have already, or will be O'ing at the monitor appointment. Fingers crossed everything looks great so we can move forward with an IUI in August.

QOTW: I have friends and family that have experienced loss, but all of them were many years ago and none of them also battled infertility. I have gotten some great advice from my SIL especially, but others honestly couldn't relate to my feelings because they "didn't think much of it and just got pregnant again." Sigh. That is why I am SO thankful for this board and all of you ladies.

  • Hi ladies!

    FX @katydid2014‌
@sunflwra‌ love a good mani/pedi! Hope you get some answers in the coming weeks
@HeyMrsPotter‌ thinking of you this cycle. So glad to hear the cyst is gone!
@tlc35‌ hugs! Hope timing works out that you're together during o this cycle.
@raelynn7109 glad this part is over for you dear!
@DenaMaree‌ glad AF came. I hope that your beta confirms!

AFM, unfortunately despite having a period, my beta was not negative last week. So I have to repeat in a few weeks and my blood work is postponed. Kind of a bummer, but I'm staying positive. I'm hoping the delay will align my mom's gut for when should try again and my doc's recommendation.

I do have IRL friends that have had losses (even multiple like me). It's nice to talk to them and it was super helpful at first, but they are ALL pregnant right now. So their perspective is a little different now on the other side.

    Love to you all!

@sunflwra, productive and proactive is a good thing! I'm so glad your RE appointment resulted in a great plan, and I hope the testing gets you some helpful answers.

@tlc35, ((HUGS)), lady. I'm sorry this week has been so hard and that your travel for work is presenting added challenges. Turning older is no fun, I know (I'm 38), but I hope you were able to enjoy your birthday yesterday anyway. FX that your O holds off until you get home.

@raelynn71109 , I'm sorry you had to go through it, but glad the 2nd D&C went well. I hope the bleeding stops for you soon and that all is well at your follow-up.
  • *snip*
QOTW: I know some people who have had losses years ago, but none of them are still TTC now--each for various reasons. They mostly seem to have moved on. I know they are very sympathetic, and they remember what it's like to go through it, but they can't always relate to where I'm at at this point.
This.  Several family members have gone through losses, but they have all moved on and have their rainbows.  The other hard part is that they all had at least one living child before their losses and can't relate to my first pregnancy-first loss situation.  My sister thinks the best way for me to move on is to get pregnant ASAP.  Well, up until recently the fear of another miscarriage has been outweighing the desire to try again.  I'm just now to the point where fear and desire are on even levels.

Thanks for the check-in Mrs Potter.  My cycles are still throwing me for a loop because I don't know what to expect anymore for length and ovulation, which is fine since at the moment I'm still TTA (which will likely be changing after this cycle).  I don't temp [yet] and I'm not sure if I will, I can usually feel when I ovulate (I get pretty bad 'mittelschmertz') and I track CM.  The last two cycles though my cramping mid-cycle hasn't been the same as it was, so I don't know what to think.  DH thinks I'm going to drive myself batty if I start temping, which is probably true (lol).  We'll see what the next few cycles tell me I guess.

  • @DenaMaree‌, no worries about sharing TMI. You'd have to go way further than describing how fast a pad fills to offend anyone here! I'm sorry AF is being so viscous, but glad you're finally done waiting for her. Your Vegas trip sounds great. I love it when vacation and FW coincide!

@soon to be mrs pham, ugh, I can see why talking to your neighbor isn't much help. I'm glad you've found our check-in, as it's a great place for support.

@redheadrunning, I'm sorry AF is being such a biotch, but FX that this does indeed take care of that retained tissue. GL that everything will look great at the monitoring U/S, and FX for you as you try naturally this cycle.

@littlecookie, dammit, I'm sorry those betas are still hanging in the positive range. ((HUGS)). I'm glad you're staying positive, and FX that they do straighten themselves out in a way that makes for good timing in the future.

@sarcaztic10, I'm sending you the biggest ((HUGS)) and lots of love. I'm so sorry you're feeling that way. I also delayed for months and months intro-ing on TTCAL6+. But I did finally intro, and I'm glad I did. The turning point for me was when I started to feel very disconnected and to avoid even looking at the TTCAL main board because I hardly knew anyone here anymore. I'm of course glad for all the ladies that get here and then move on quickly, but being left behind time and time again is just so hard. I finally intro'ed on 6+ because I needed that connection with others who are on this long TTCAL road with us, even if it is hard to acknowledge that this is where the journey is leading me. I'm glad that you and YH are seeing someone to talk things through and I hope you'll find it helpful. I've heard good things from others here who have taken that step. As always, I'll be stalking your chart and hoping for a nice, normal cycle this time around.

  • @MrsKush1014, I'm sorry your cycles are leaving you with so much uncertainty. As you're unfortunately experiencing, predicting O can be harder after loss, but it's definitely a personal decision whether to temp. I chose not to do it for a few cycles, but I eventually found that temping and using OPK's made me less crazy.

In my case, my husband is 43 with diabetes, so ED is an issue for him sometimes, especially under the emotional pressure that comes with FW and TTC. So we need to be selective about the number of days we spend trying to HIO, otherwise, if O comes later than normal, we're out of steam before it matters most. So, using OPK's helps us be sure we're concentrating our efforts on the days when it really counts, and temping lets us confirm O so that we can be sure when it's OK to take a break. It definitely is possible to get obsessed about temps and POAS/OPK, but for me the stress of the uncertainty was worse.

That said, everyone is different. If you're not ready for those things at this point, that's OK. You have to do whatever makes the most sense for you to be able to balance the need/desire for optimal information to guide your timing with whatever's best for your emotional well-being. And you can always change your mind and start doing them later if you eventually feel differently.
  • Thanks for the feedback @HeyMrsPotter!  And I'm so happy to hear that your ultrasound showed the cyst is gone!

I will apologize now for the vague check-in - I am trying to get ready to go out of town b/c there was a death in the family and I'm not good with the mass shoutouts yet b/c I am still trying to get a hold of everyone's story and where they are currently.

I'm sending out a couple of "welcomes" and it seems there's a lot going on with all of you for me to keep my fingers crossed - and believe me, I am! As for me, AF is still here which is very annoying but at least it's light. Some late cramping but that could just be my anxiety.

    I promise to get back "in it" once I'm back in town, but know that I am extremely thankful for this group and all of you. { h u g s }

@tlc35, that's great news about the possible change with your job! I'll be hoping that it all works out so you can stop that long-distance work routine soon.

@aswedishbee, I'm so sorry for your loss. Safe travels to you.

Also to aswedishbee --and to everyone-- I want to reassure you that there's never any expectation that check-in members respond individually to every poster. It's great if you have the time, and especially if you see that one of our members has posted something to which you really want to respond and provide support. Individual shout-outs are always appreciated when they happen, but we all understand how busy life is. Please rest assured that it's perfectly OK to just post your udpate with general greetings to the group. We really do understand.

@HMR11913, hello love. I'm no FF expert, but based on your OPK+s yesterday and today, and also your higher temp today, I suspect that with another day or two of high temps, the CH's will probably land on today's date in your chart. You could test this theory by entering dummy high temps (try numbers similar to or higher than today's) for tomorrow and possibly the next day just to see what your chart does.

Don't forget that it takes 3 days of high temps before FF can confirm O, but when it does, it's usually the first day of high temps that gets the CH's. So, they won't appear until a few days after the fact and when they do, your fertile window will have closed already. That's why OPK's are so important. Temping is extremely useful for confirming after the fact that you did O, and for timing your 2WW, but not for knowing when to BD. OPK's and CM are your best source of info for that. If you happened to have BD-ed recently based on your OPK+s, and if I'm right about where those CH's will land, then your timing will probably be pretty good.

I promise, this charting stuff WILL  get easier!

I'm sorry for your friend's loss last September, but glad you have that IRL support from someone you're close to. And I agree, that carefree sense of excitement about being pregnant is something that probably none of us will get to fully enjoy next time around if/when we get a chance for our rainbows. Sadly, it's yet another thing that loss takes away from us. ((HUGS)).

Thanks for the help @HeyMrsPotter and taking the time to explain all of this. I just entered in 2 temps that were a little lower than today for tomorrow and Saturday, and it gave me CH on CD14, so you are right and maybe the timing won't be so bad after all. I put them in and then deleted them. You are so smart.  :-*

I do have a question though, I read somewhere not to mistake semen for CM while checking.... this probably sounds so dumb, but wouldn't it all just kind of be mixed together? Not sure how one would tell the difference... I didn't find a whole lot of anything today, but rest assured that I'll be checking again this afternoon!

You're totally right. They are mixed together and it's not always easy to tell. FF has some very involved instructions on how to tell the difference -- I think it involves a glass of water? LOL. But honestly, once I've had an OPK+, I don't worry too much about checking CM anymore. ETA: GL!
  • Hi ladies, sorry so late! My work schedule has been crazy busy this week
    Welcome to the check-in @wendyld and @soontobemrspham

@Heymrspotter, enjoy time with your bestie! It's nice to have friends like that.
@Katydid FX for Saturday, we'll be thinking of you.
@sunflwra I hope you get some answers soon so you can get a plan into place.

I've finally hit my FW, but who knows what our timing is going to be like since I'm working till 2am for the next few days.I started charting this cycle and it looks absolutely heinous. For the first half of this cycle, my air-conditioner was broken so my temps are all wacky.
I was hoping that my post D&C cycles would shorten up a little bit, but I don't think that's going to happen.

QOTW: I have a male friend/coworker and his wife recently had her first loss. It kind of brought us closer together because we were able to discuss our emotions and how grief can affect men and women differently.Other than that, I don't know anyone IRL that has had a loss.

  • Hi, @LittleMrsW. I think it's totally normal for charts to look kind of crazy at first. It does get easier. I'd encourage you to put your chart link in your siggy. And/or, send me a FF friend request. I'm a chart stalker! I hope your FW timing works out OK. GL to you this cycle.
  • Thanks @HeyMrsPotter for the check in, I could have sworn I replied to this! So sorry I've been MIA!

TTCALR: Yesterday I got a positive opk and (for the 1st time in 3 months) peak on my Clear Blue Fertility Monitor. So we sexed it up on Wed. night and this morning, so I feel like we should have pretty good timing. My temp rose this morning but I'm not sure how much I trust it because I fell asleep at midnight and woke up a few times  between then and when my alarm went off at 5 so...

ps. I ran out of test sticks for my CBFM and couldn't get any from ebay in time so I had to go to Walgreens and buy some. $67!!!! +tax! Ugh...

NTTCAL: I think I had mentioned that my sister was recently diagnosed with ovarian cancer, well she had her follow up with her doc today about the surgery and chemo. They said she had the "best level of cancer" one can have (I guess it's a slow growth one and was contained to a certain area). And while she is looking at 4 months of chemo, losing her hair, and is currently starting to go through menopause at 33, she should live many, many more years.

    ***other person's pregnancy/babies mentioned***

QOTW: Right after my loss in April '13 a friend told me she had had a blight ovum the Jan. before and for a couple months I had some one to talk with. Unknown to me she was already pregnant again when I had my loss, with twins. When she told me in July I had to tell her I needed space from her and didn't see her again until Nov. when I found out she was in the hospital because of complications. Today was the first time I've seen her since then and I immediately started crying. All I could think was, it's not fair. This long after and I have nothing to show for my TTC. The girls are cute but I was going to have a Nov. baby and instead she did x 2, so it was hard to see a child the age mine could have been.

Sorry this got so long, here is a yummy dessert (there is fruit in it so it's healthy!) and have a great weekend!

  • @HeyMrsPotter‌ Thanks for the check-in and glad to hear the cyst is gone! @HMR11913‌ Thanks for our check-in as well! My fiancée and I actually had some great talks after the blow out. He admitted he felt the same as many of your husbands felt, that he was scared to see me go through the pain of another MC, especially right around our wedding or on our honeymoon. It took me a couple of days of calming down and thinking about it, but I saw the light. We're shelving the aggressive TTC until after the wedding, so,I can focus on our relationship and the fun of the wedding.I am still a little disappointed b/c I just want to be pregnant again! Plus, I calculated ahead and I'll be in my fertile week when we're relaxing on the beach in St Lucia!

Sorry this reply is so late, ladies. Where did the weekend go?

@mara005, I spy CH's on your chart! I'm guessing that another day or two of high temps will turn those dotted lines solid. And, it sounds like your timing was ideal.  I'll be hoping hard for you this cycle. Sorry about those expensive CBFM strips, though - ugh is right. I'm also so sorry your sister has to go through all of that, but it sounds like she got the best news possible given the situation. I'm glad the prognosis is good, and that she has a great supporter in you. I'm sorry about that difficult visit with your friend. ((HUGS))

@scrang74, I'm glad you and your fiancee are on the same page. Once you have the desire to be pregnant again, it's really, really hard to focus on other things. But I'm glad you're going to be able to invest the time in your relationship and on enjoying your wedding. And, what could be better timing than to have FW during a Carribean honeymoon? I'm excited for you!
