Pregnant after a Loss

10 week sex test?

While that sounds like something I'm sure my husband would like...

Has anyone done/researched the blood test that can be done at 10 weeks to tell you the baby's sex?

I thought it might be a fun way to celebrate at 12 weeks, but I don't know much about it. It's completely non-invasive, and they're taking my blood every week anyway. (My doctor mentioned it as part of a different conversation.) We could announce the pregnancy AND the sex (although I'll probably still wait a couple weeks, just PGAL paranoia).

Re: 10 week sex test?

  • I found out the sex at 10.5 weeks, but that was because I did the Materniti21 test (I am 35+), which checks for the three main trisomies. The test also screens for the presence of the y chromosome, but it wasn't the reason to get the test.

  • As previous post mentions the test is for the 3 trisomies, finding out the sex is just a bonus. Not the reason you have the test done.

  • Thanks all! My doctor mentioned it in a light-hearted manner, so it's good to know more about it. I'm still early 30s, so not quite 35 for this one. Of 4 pregnancies, we only were able to test the tissues of one loss, and the issue was a missing chromosome; but I don't think trisomies are a concern.

Honestly, the mission is to get to the second trimester. We've talked about different screening tests during past pregnancies, but this round, all that matters is getting to the second trimester. Everything else can be discussed later.

    Thanks again!!
