Early rising (actual parenting ques)

Ever since DS had coxsackie (about a week and a half) he has been waking up every day at 4:45am on the dot.... Like up for the day :( He has always been an early riser but this is a bit excessive. He usually gets up between 530 and 630. He's been better since Thursday and is back to himself now with no symptoms (other than the rash/blisters still healing but they don't seem to be bothering him anymore). The last few days I've started keeping up a half hour later at night and he has only been getting one nap instead of two (he is transitioning to toddler room at daycare and they only get one nap) but it's not helping.

Any other advice?

  • Yeah, I would try putting him to bed earlier. It always seems counter intuitive, but usually works.

  • I can't see exactly how old he is. But if he's still in a crib and he's not yelling, try leaving him there for a little while. Maybe he will go back to sleep.

  • I agree with everyone else on the earlier bedtime. Also where in the 609 are you located @piglet6609

  • In our house, later bedtime also equals earlier wake up.  I would try an earlier bedtime like others have suggested.

I also agree on leaving him in his crib to play.  We leave L in his crib and he plays happily until it's time to get up.

  • I always suggest black out curtains.
Also earlier bed time. And no rewarding early wake up by letting them watch TV.

Sorry I didn't mean to post and run!
He is 15 months. Usually he does sit and chat quietly with himself upon waking but since the 445 crap started he is screaming until I get him out :(

Thanks all. I would totally leave him there but he cries and tells until I get him and his room is next to DDs :(

I will try earlier and see what happens!

I don't think it's hunger. I mean, he eats but he is up for the day. He def wouldn't go back to sleep
