Question about Graco carseat/travel system

We registered for and received this travel system at my baby shower https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=18166076&cp=&parentPage=search and I am wondering if we still need a head support for the carseat. If you look at the photo/info in the link, it shows that the carseat comes with a head and body support for a newborn, but it doesn't resemble other supports I've seen in the store. The ones that you can buy separately are rounded and come with a smaller one for a newborn/preemie and then a larger one for an infant. The one that came with this seat is a little more flat…? I bought a head support thinking we needed it but now I'm thinking I need to return it. I wanted to ask in the store but of course the lady was busy and I wasn't going to stand there for 30 minutes waiting. Any input is appreciated!

Re: Question about Graco carseat/travel system

  • Mine is similar. We also received a JJCole head support like you had described. Ended up not using the JJCole one, DS didn't need it and anything not supplied by the manufacturer shouldn't be between baby and seat like designer liners. Seats aren't rated for safety with anything other than what they come with. I used the JJCole head support in my stroller instead of purchasing a separate snuggler.

  • I was told by the car seat tech and my child prep teacher (RN) that we should not add any accessories to or around the car seat.

This exactly. Accessories have not been crash tested with your seat unless it comes with your seat. The head support it comes with should be just fine, but you can always use two rolled receiving blankets on either side of the head (not over) if you want. Should look like this: |O|

  • Thanks ladies! I figured as much, but wanted to make sure I was doing the right thing. I looked in the booklet that came with the seat and it also says to use rolled blankets if needed, so thats all I'll do if I feel its necessary :)

  • My SIL bought this system for us. I don't plan on buying any accessories for it.

  • I got the same system. It has been in the back of my car for 2 weeks now. Maybe I should take it or if the box and look at it! Lol.

Haha!! Yes the stroller needs built so you may wanna unwrap that bad boy :) it seems like such a great system, the stroller rides really smooth and the fabric in both pieces is soooo soft. I think I am going to love it!
