Hey everyone! I am new here, for the most part, and wanted to share and get some advice from you all...
My husband and I are currently trying to have a baby. I was diagnosed with Diabetes in 2008 and PCOS in 2013. We have gone through test after test to cover all our bases. He has been tested and all is good on his end. I have had numerous tests only to show that I in fact have PCOS and my testosterone is HIGH! I have not had a menstrual cycle in OVER TWO YEARS I have take progesterone medication to try and bring on my period and nothing worked! The doctor just sent me for a CT Scan of my adrenal glands and then after that I will be starting Clomid.
I am scared to start clomid because of all the side effects I have heard about. I am also scared because I want to get the ball rolling and start taking it but I have so much going on in the next two weeks+... camping, 5k, family parties, etc. Would you all suggest that I not take it when I have things planned? Any advice/tips?
I am also concerned because I heard that clomid wouldnt be effective unless you have had a menstrual cycle but my doc said that isn't the case. Anyone know anything about this? I know I should always trust my doc, but I would like to hear from other women that have gone through this.
Im an overweight woman, but I have been working on eating better and losing weight. As always it has been hard, but I keep pushing through and remember that I am doing this for my baby!
Looking forward to feedback and advice from you all! Thanks for reading!
Re: PCOS, Diabetes, Progesterone, Clomid, plus size pregnancy and all that fun stuff...
If your OB isn't willing to do those tests than I would STRONGLY suggests seeing an RE. Clomid can cause cysts to grow on your ovaries, you may over respond, it can thin your lining and puts you at risk for HOM...dangerous stuff.
An HSG needs to be done before you start clomid. I know when you have PCOS (I do too) it's easy to think that that is your issue...but all the clomid in the world can't get an egg down a blocked tube.
Sorry if that's all overwhelming. I've just seen too many horror stories...hopefully you can find an RE that can help!
ETA: oops, @NariaDreaming I must've been typing at the same time. Looks like we had a lot of the same thoughts. Great minds...
