What time does LO wake up?

I'm just curious what time your LOs wake up and start the day. I know this can change often due to so many things (teething, illness, meeting milestones, etc), but let's just say what time on average over the last few weeks?

Wynn has been starting the day at 5- 5:30 for about the last 5-6 weeks. Just wondering if this is going to be his regular schedule or if it's a sleep regression thing at this age.

  • I voted 7am-ish, but that is a recent development. He had been waking around 6, but we also just moved him to his own room so I think that is helping. We have also been working with daycare to get him on somewhat of a nap schedule, so he takes two hour long naps a day now - I think this is also helping, as he isn't overtired at the end of the day. He goes down around 8pm each night.

I voted SS. During the week he is usually up between 5-6:30am, but on the weekends he usually is up for the day around 630-730. He is asleep by 8:15pm everyday, so I'm guessing that the extra noise and movement from us getting ready for work in the mornings, contributes to him getting up earlier through the week.

This used to be similar to us. Wynn would wake up during the week between 6 and 6:45 (totally doable for me) and I think a lot of that depended on when DH's alarm went off and he got up and started making noise. Because on the weekends he would sleep til almost 7:30 since there was no alarm. But now it's like 5:00 every day. Today it was 4:15!! No teeth yet so I'm just hoping this is teeth related.

I've tried putting him to bed later but he freaks out. He wants to be in the bed by 7:00.

Naps are ok-- he takes about a 40 min nap at 7:30 (since he's up so early) and then a longer nap around 10. And then one more 40min to an hour nap around 2. And then asleep at 7pm and sleeps straight through. So doesn't seem to be an over tired thing.

If anyone can diagnose my child please do so! =)

  • She wakes up anywhere between 5:15-6. Every day. And on weekends. "Sleeping in" doesn't exist anymore.

  • She normally wakes up around 6:30ish because she is having a huge poop. If she doesn't wake herself from pooping, I will go in and wake her around 6:40 so we can get out of the house on time.
The weekends are the same, she will sleep till she poops, so the latest is probably 7:30 on average.

Same here.  I miss sleeping in on the weekends.  Only DH does that anymore (and pisses me off)

  • M used to sleep until about 8:00ish but once I went back to work and had to get her out of the house every morning, she ended up on a schedule of anywhere between 6:30-7:00.  Why don't babies understand the concept of sleeping in on the weekend?!

Could you gradually move his bedtime later by 15 minutes a day or every other day? Maybe if he had like an 8:00 bedtime he'd at least sleep til 6....

But TBH, if he is sleeping through the night I wouldn't complain too much! A is still up 2-3 times a night. :(

    Same.

  • Most days he wakes at 7 but a few times he'll wake at like 8 or 9 if he sleeps on his own until about 530 then I bring him into bed hoping for a little more sleep
  • He's usually up around 6-6:15, but this week he's been sleeping later. I think he's going through a growth spurt. I've been having to get him up around 6:45 to leave on time. Over the weekend he slept until 7 both days.

Nope. Never. I mean, when she was a newborn I'm sure one of her sleep stretches was from like 5:30-8 but that's it.

  • There needs to be an option for too effing early.  I voted 6am ish, but whenever I get up for the day, E wakes up as well.  She doesn't realize she can sleep after I get out of bed.  Although I'm sure the bed moving (we bed share) and my body warmth is what wakes her up.  So it's usually anywhere between 5:15 and 5:45 Monday through Friday.  Weekends I get up when she wakes up, anywhere between 6 and 7 normally.

  • I try to put L to bed at 7:30, but usually she's whining for bed by 7.  She usually wakes up somewhere between 1 and 3 for food (and maybe a second time for comfort, but not usually - this was like a switch at 6 months, 4 weeks ago, she was still waking up 4 times/night!).  Then she's usually up at 5:20-30.

I'd love to get her to bed later so she'll sleep in later, but she's a total grump after 7pm!

  • I voted SS because DD is up by 4:30/4:45 for the day.  It's rough.

Will that ever stop, by the way?

My older DD (3 1/2) would sleep until 9-10 if I let her now, and she used to always be up by 6-7. At first it freaked me out but now I'm not phased by it!! There is hope! ;)

DD2 is up between 6-7 every day no matter what. Not only that, she still wakes up every 2-3 hours and has to be soothed back to sleep (or I lay in bed and nurse her if I'm feeling particularly lazy). And she has a terrible cold right now so last night was pure hell.

Do you cry every morning?  I would.  Seriously.  My sympathies.
It's pretty brutal - especially since I can't usually get to bed any earlier than 10:30/11pm.  I'm kind of used to it now - I usually wake up around 4:30 on my own.  DD1 is an early riser too, she's 2.5 and is up by 6am usually.  So by the time I get to work I've already had a full day.  I live for coffee and blame by DH.  He gave them his early riser gene.

Samies. I'm happy when O sleeps till 6:30.
  • M - F We get him up at 6:15/6:30 to get ready for daycare.

Saturday and Sunday he usually wakes up between 7 and 7:30.

W might get over his early wakings but I highly doubt it's teething if he is STTN. It's really common for babies to be early risers.

All of these sttn babies are making me sad. I would get up at 6am if I could just have some uninterrupted sleep.

I appreciate the love tit and I'm sure my response was definitely yawn worthy, so I'm curious...what exactly would have made it more exciting? Should I have added exclamation points? ;-) P.S. Most sleep posts are yawn worthy to me. See what I did there?
I don't think she means boring, I think she means tired from getting up so early.

Oh man I'm a loser. I can't even make a joke correctly. =) By "yawn club" I meant that I'm exhausted and yawning all day long from my babe waking up so early. And there were several people that seem to be joining me in that department. And have it worse off than me!

  • Ohh I just read the rest of the responses. Soooo y'all did get me! =)

    But don't hate me yet.

He doesn't go to sleep until 11ish (his doing, we try for hours before that) and wakes up a number of times.

So unless you want to spend all your evening grownup time with the baby, theres not really am advantage to having a baby that will sleep in a bit.

    This exactly.

5:30 - 8 is our range. If H sleeps through the night, he wakes up before 6. If he eats in the middle of the night, he'll sleep until 7:30 or so. E wakes up at 3 to eat and usually sleeps until 7 or 7:30.

  • On a good night, like last night, B goes down around 8 and sleeps till 3:15 ish, I nurse her and then she's back down until 5:30.
She gets to come into our bed at that point, gets nursed and then sleeps with us until we have to get up around 6:30.

Weekends if I'm lucky we both stay sleeping in our bed until maybe 7:30 or 8:00.

This is a huge improvement over the last month- now if only I could learn to sleep well again!
