TTC After a Loss

Incompetent cervix

Hi, I'm new to the group. I'm deciding whether or not to ttc after two second trimester looses. I want a baby more than anything in the world and want to give my step-daughter a sibling. I know we are all in the same ocean different boat but has anyone had a success with incompetent cervix? Abdominal cerclage(cervical failed)? I'm only a week out and need some encouragement.

  • I'm sorry for your losses. Like PP said, we haven't had success stories here. Feel free to check out PgAL, PAL and the loss board. The loss board is for mamas who've have 2nd tri-late loss, stillbirth or loss of an infant. Some of those ladies also experienced IC. ((hugs))

I am so sorry for your losses.
  • I'm so sorry for your losses and that you find yourself here (hugs)

I have an incompetent cervix. I was diagnosed in October 2013 after losing my twin girls at 21 weeks. The plan following that loss was a cerclage, P17 shots and bedrest. I got pregnant again in April 2013 but didn't make it far enough to get a cerclage placed.

Have you had any testing done? If you've had a failed transvaginal cerclage you may want to look into having a SIS and MRI to have a look at the shape of your uterus. There are two ladies who I know of on the bump who have transabdominal cerclages but I can't for the life of me remember their screen names. (I believe one might be thecuddleffect)

FX you can find peace moving forward and find a doctor who is willing to investigate and come up with a suitable plan for you.

  • Thanks ladies, I will check out pgal and pal as well as this group. I'm glad that I found a place where we can support each other.
  • I'm sorry for your losses, I don't have any advice but wanted to offer ((Hugs)).

  • I'm so very sorry for your losses. My most recent loss was due to IC. I'll echo the previous suggestions to look into having a SIS to look at the shape of your uterus. I would also meet with a MFM (if you don't already have one) for a consultation ahead of your next pregnancy to have a plan in place. Good luck!
