Essential Oils

So I have a couple of friends that have started using the Young Living Essential Oils.  I went to a workshop type of thing that a friend had to learn more about these oils. They talked about all sorts of ways you could use the oils from calming babies to helping with headaches, colds, etc.  She also talked about a Fennel oil that could increase milk supply.  I was just curious if anybody on here uses these oils and if they really do live up to the hype.

Re: Essential Oils

  • No experience with using them for supply, but EOs were the only thing that helped DH's allergies last week. I'm a skeptical person, but I saw it work in that case.
I also have been using lavendar oil on LO's feet at night as part of our bedtime routine and it does seem to help him stay calmer.

  • I really love essential oils and I don't sell them. I've used them for myself and I use them with a carrier oil on LO. For example, he had cradle cap and I used lavender and tea tree with coconut oil as a carrier and his cradle cap was gone in one application. I use lavender on his feet also for calming and teething, and I use white fir neat on his gums for teething.

I use oils for everything. Yes, fennel does help with supply but I personally
Do not ingest oils. Mothers milk tea has fennel in it and is safer, IMO.

Also I just want to throw in, just because young living or do terra claim to be the "purest" or "best" doesn't mean they are. I use Aura Cacia oils and they work just as well for a fraction of the cost. Also, watch out for people that like to throw out advice that have no idea what they're talking about. Before you use something, make sure to do your own research because these oils can potentially be dangerous on the wrong hands. Always use a carrier oil too when applying topically. ;)

  • I put a few drops of lavender and tee tree oils in my water spray for LO's wipes (cloth) and a couple drops of lavender in a jar of coconut oil for the massage I do as part of bedtime routine. I'm not counting on any huge transformations from using them, but they smell nice and I'd like to believe have some good effect.
