Welcome to the August ‘14 PgAL Check-In!
This is a weekly check-in for women who are due in the month of August (or thereabouts) and have suffered a previous pregnancy loss. Being pregnant after a loss can produce a mix of emotions. This check-in is intended to provide support while we make our way through each trimester.
If your EDD has changed, please let me know. I try to pay attention to the board and get the latest update, but apologies if I missed out and I'm posting outdated info.

Re: Aug '14 PGAL Weekly Check-In @)-->-----
How are you feeling (physically/emotionally): Emotionally, a little freaked out that after today, I've got less than 6 weeks before baby KaleMonster is estimated to arrive! So much stuff to do before he gets here. I'm also a bit sad that I'm going to have to share him with more than just H after he's an outside baby. Physically, I hate the swelling that comes with the heat and humidity. I also hate that I can't seem to get comfortable for long when trying to sleep. Luckily I'm on summer break so I can nap during the day and not go to work super tired and cranky.
Upcoming appointments or milestones: 34 week appointment on Wednesday and then I start going in every two weeks!
What's been going down this past week: H has been super cute about the baby recently. He's started to rest his head on my belly and sing to him. He's also backpacking this week so he made me promise to not go into labor while he's gone, lol.
GTKY: What will you be doing to make your life simpler for a little while after Baby is born? Just being okay with the fact that somethings are not going to get done around the house, and that we might live in clutter for the first couple of weeks while we get used to having a new demanding roommate dictating our lives!

Pregnancy #3 after two prior losses in 2013
Feeling- pretty good. Back aching and having trouble sleeping but trying not to complain too much!
Upcoming appts- 32 week check up Thursday.
Past week- my 5 year old was able to feel the baby for the first time yesterday. He was super excited! Very sweet.
GRKY- I've cooked a few things and froze them. Plan on doing more. Letting my husband and mom help more. With my first son I felt like I needed to do everything- WRONG!
How many weeks are you: 32 weeks today
How are you feeling (physically/emotionally):
Physically, I am starting to get a little sore but nothing too terrible. I had some ketones in my urine this morning at the appointment, but my doctor wasn't concerned and said it sounded like my breakfast was too small. Emotionally, I am doing well although the ketones made me nervous!
Upcoming appointments or milestones: next appointment in 2 weeks.
What's been going down this past week:
Working on the nursery and getting ready for baby. I need to order a new carrier and the converter piece for my stroller but finally starting to feel a *little* more ready!!
GTKY: What will you be doing to make your life simpler for a little while after Baby is born?
I am going to start making some freezer meals in July and compile a collection of menus from all the local restaurants that deliver
Upcoming appointments or milestones: Nothing for a couple weeks.
What's been going down this past week: We had our growth scan on Tuesday. Baby looks great. She's on the small side (30th percentile), but still in normal range. The perinatologist doesn't think we need another scan, but is leaving that up to my OB. She was breech though, and the peri seemed slightly concerned just given the timing. The very next day I saw my OB and baby was back to head down. I guess she's still busy doing flips! I won't worry about her position until 36 weeks or so. My work week was insane which I think is how I picked up this little cold. This week doesn't seem to be slowing down much, so I'm hoping I can recover. We are having a little "sprinkle" thrown for us on Friday, so I'm looking forward to that.
GTKY: What will you be doing to make your life simpler for a little while after Baby is born? We'll be keeping DS in his normal daycare schedule and considering more if I need it. Otherwise, I seem to be planning things to make life more difficult instead of easier! We're still talking about a family vacation in August which we do every year (visiting my grandmother at her beach house on the Jersey Shore). That one is still up in the air...
How are you feeling? Tired and my back hurts. I have been having a hard time sleeping at night and now my whole back aches.
Upcoming appointments: 7/3
What's been going on this week? At my appointment last week, the doctor said I was measuring a cm bigger than I should be. I know that probably only means that she will be a bigger baby than DS was but secretly, I'm hoping that means she'll be born around 39 weeks then.
GTKY: What are you doing to make life after baby easier? I hope to make some freezer meals, but other than that not much. I don't have high expectations in those first few weeks and am preparing to just roll with it.
How many weeks are you: 33weeks
How are you feeling (physically/emotionally): drained in both ways
Upcoming appointments or milestones: I finally changed doctors.. I decided to go to the hospital for a checkup and met a female OB who did a quick check up during which I told her my story briefly and she said she could take my case and that my babies have the right to be well
Monitored and I should have been better managed during my pg.. I called my nightmarish doctor to cancel al future appointments today and felt relieved.. I will be in better hands now..
What's been going down this past week: well, that thing with the doctor change and some non stress monitoring at home with a nurse that was sent here from the hospital.. I'm still battling my hair loss which is so exhausting emotionally.. My anemia is still pretty bad and my GD became out of control and I started insulin.. Also DH has been transferred to japan so that will be happening for the 4 of us in October.. That is so surreal I haven't even allowed myself to process it.. We have to sell everything now and prepare for life in a new country/continent with two newborns after a csec.. Oh boy.. One day at a time..
GTKY: What will you be doing to make your life simpler for a little while after Baby is born? I don't think it will be simple at all.. But my mom will be here so I will just let her take care of us for a little while..

Caroline Marie born 8/20/14. 8lbs 11oz, 21 inches and perfect!
@mdarmetko - I am going with the beco Gemini, I was looking for a carrier that worked well with shorter people and this has good reviews. I didn't baby wear much with DS so I am looking forward to it this time! Hopefully this one will work
@mdarmetko - Thanks for the check-up. Things are going pretty good. All at once I have realized I am moving at a snail's pace because if I move any faster I either want to fall asleep or waddle.
How many weeks are you: 33w5d
How are you feeling (physically/emotionally): big and grumpy. I feel like I'm too sensitive to stressors these days and miss the mellow, not snippy me.
Upcoming appointments or milestones: next appt is on Tuesday. I think I have one more normal appt after that one before the weekly internals start.
What's been going down this past week: dd starts camp on Monday (YAY!!!!), so I have just been trying to keep her entertained as much as possible, even though all I want to do is lay down with a/c blasting. She's been great, thankfully.
GTKY: What will you be doing to make your life simpler for a little while after Baby is born? I'm going to try to make some freezer meals. Also putting a twin bed in the nursery so I can sleep in there with the baby and let DH and dd sleep better. DD will also be in school three mornings a week, and I might step it up to five days.
How many weeks are you: 31 and 3 days
first son stillborn 7/20/13 at 39 weeks due to Acute Fatty Liver of Pregnancy
It's a girl! Baby Anna was born August 3, 2014!
