Jug o' Pee- Please be Protein Free

Sorry for the disgusting title.

I had my 34 week appt today. New doctor because I had the most spaztic midwife of all time. Got rid of her (thankfully because I would NOT want her calling the shots right now in regards to any induction) seemingly love my new doctor. She's calm and collected, likeable no anxious energy. Was late to my appt by 45 min but she said she was reviewing my chart and by all accounts she actually was and really tried to know my history. Gold Star for her!

That being said, my blood pressure was crazy high today. This poses a problem because I was emergency induced at 36 weeks with my son for pre-eclampsia. Labored and gave birth strapped to a bed, magnesium... the works. Was in the hospital a week, on magnesium 24 hours after labor too due to seizure risk so not allowed to get out of bed, had to have the catheter for 2 days etc. I still get anxiety thinking about my delivery and labor. This time around I hired a doula, I guess even if I have to be induced I'm hoping she can be a good support. I was so overwhelmed and scared and in pain. Pitocin is the devil. Laboring strapped to a bed is the devil and unfortunately I'm a freak of nature and 3 attempts later the epidural never took so I'm a bit scared for round 2!

So I have to do the 24 hour collection for urine protein today and tomorrow. New doctor wants to go ahead and induce right away if there's protein :( I'm pretty hopeful there wont be and maybe today was just a fluke blood pressure reading. But please send happy thoughts this way. I don't want to be induced and I would be 35 weeks by the time she arrives if we had to induce so she wouldn't be itty bitty but I really just wanted her to cook a bit longer and come when she's ready. My son was a chunk 7 lbs 3 oz at a month early but any amount early still makes me nervous for their development. I keep envisioning a peaceful labor and me up out of bed, moving around healthy and going home a day after having her. I know people like that, I want to be one of them!

Are there any other STM here who had to be induced for pre-eclampsia their first time around?

  • Your labor sounds just like mine inly i was almost 42 weeks... Hang in there, and if you do t want to be induced ask ab medication maybe? Or other options? I hatef the mag and i would do anything other than have that again!!!
I am having a RCS this time so hopefully getting to avoid that all together!

Started TTC in 2006, LOTS of trying, and trying, and 7 rounds of IVF with 13 embryos, 2 perfect little boys and 5 loses....
All finished with babies, started to make diet changes, Keto, to be MORE for my kids, lost 30 pounds, still going, and 3 months in, I had a natural cycle, and then ovulated... Hubs and I are going to see what happens now... Maybe a natural pregnancy? After everything we have been through? Or just a return to normal hormones? We shall see what the future holds!

I was induced right after my 40 week appointment because of high BP, protein, and elevated liver enzymes. I'm hoping it doesn't happen again this time.

    Fingers crossed for you!

  • I had to do the pee jug thing twice last pregnancy, so I really got a good laugh out of your title! Fingers crossed everything comes back good for you, and your bp goes down!

  • I was induced with my last pregnancy at 37w3d for the same reason. I didn't have all the drama you did. I labored for 26 hours before I ended up with a c/s. I just found out yesterday that I have to do the pee thing too. I go back in two weeks to see if I will be scheduled for a rcs at 36 weeks or will I be able to go until 39 weeks. By BP has been steadily trending up for the past 11 weeks, so honestly, I am planning to have this baby earlier than anticipated. Is a baby born at 36 weeks technically considered a preemie?
