I have no freakin' idea what kind I need but my kid is on the verge of moving and I'm in semi-panic mode trying to get the house ready. My issue is I have a staircase with a banister on one side and the bottom rail is round so I don't know how I would attach it. Like this (these are not my stairs I'm just too lazy to go and take a picture of them)
Also they make some for the top of the stairs and some for the bottom, what is the difference? Just the way it swings open? I'm so confused.

we bought a dog gate off of amazon for the bottom of stairs. we screwed it to the walls on either side and to the floor. we could not find a gate that would work with our custom built home. it works just as good as a baby gate, but matches our décor and has a door that opens. we did have to add a new lock on the inside (stair side) because LO figured out how to use the lock after several months.
