1st Trimester

First trimester - ALWAYS hungry

I'm 7 weeks into my first pregnancy and I'm always starving! When I let my stomach get even a little empty, my morning sickness acts up. I'm trying to eat protein rich meals to stay fuller longer and I'm drinking a ton of water. Does anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions to keep me from overindulging in the face of hunger pangs?

Re: First trimester - ALWAYS hungry

  • I am constantly hungry as well. I don't get morning sickness when my stomach is empty, but I do get quite HANGRY lol.

  • I'm just worried that I'm OVEReating but maybe that's silly.  I heard you don't need many extra calories in your first trimester but my body does NOT agree :)

Yup, this is exactly how I've been feeling. I'm 8 weeks and if I don't eat something often enough, my stomach feels so deeply empty and nauseous, quick! I can't eat a lot all at once either, so I'm basically eating mini meals/snacks all day. Meat is kinda repulsive to me right now, so I try to find protein in other things. String cheese, baby carrots, Apple with pb, pb& strawberry jam on wheat bread, toast, Greek yogurt and granola, quesadilla, cereal, mashed potatoes, green beans, protein granola bars, animal crackers, eggs. If chick fil a were closer to my house, I think I'd have that everyday ;)

  • Woo!  Glad I'm not alone in all my grazing.  And btw, apple slices with peanut butter sounds fantastic right now.  I'm gonna go rummage some up before dinner.
  • yeah I get annoyed when I read the you don't need extra calories in the first tri, has to be a joke, the hunger hurts just a couple of hours after last meal, and if you don't appease it, you feel nauseous!
  • I eat all.the.time. I'm under the belief that you should eat when hungry. Each body and each pregnancy is different.

  • I am only 5 weeks along and if I don't eat almost hourly, I will get very dizzy and nauseous. Almonds are my favorite snack right now. It only takes a few.

I'm 13 weeks and still hungry all the time. I just eat when I'm hungry and haven't gained a pound yet. Just try to pick healthier foods to snack on. I liked raw veggies like green peppers, cucumers, tomatoes, etc.

  • I'm 5 weeks along and I'm hungry all the time! Even when I get up in the middle of the night to pee I get real bad hunger pains. Should I eat in the middle of the night though?

    Why not?
