I don't really want to have a huge stockpile of diapers, but I definitely want to have enough to last the first couple weeks so I'm not having to rush out to the store. SOOOO, how many is boxes of diapers is that? What about wipes?
Right now I have Amazon Mom delivering to me monthly with Subscribe & Save. I'll tweak it as needed. I cannot remember at all how many diapers we went through last time and how often they were delivered which is not helpful for myself or anyone else!
Someone posted this when I was pregnant with DS and I thought it was pretty accurate. Last time I had a couple packs of newborn, few packs of ones and twos. This time I'm planning to only have 1 pack of size 1's on hand and 1 pack of newborn I think. We use Amazon subscribe and save for dipes too so I'll tweak that as needed after baby arrives.
Newborn: 60.41 diapers/week (approx. time in this size is 2 weeks)
Size 1: 61.18 diapers/week (approx. time 2 months)
Size 2: 53.2 diapers/week (approx. time 3.5 months)
Size 3: 45.99 diapers/week (approx. time 6.5 months)
Size 4: 39.62 diapers/week (approx. time 10 months)
Size 5: 35.21 diapers/week (approx. time 16.5 months)
To add to what @weeklyplanner said, it's really easy to return diapers to Amazon. You can print your own UPS label and then leave the box outside your front door for UPS to pick up. You don't need to be home to sign anything. I know this because I missed a pick up for returning an unopened box of Pull Ups, but knew UPS was delivering another package to my house the next day so I left the box out for them. It was gone when I got home and the money was credited back to me immediately.
I'm so glad you posted this OP! I was just wondering about this myself. We have been buying diapers and wipes here and there, like you, I'd like to have enough for a few weeks so I don't have to worry about running out to the store. We are using Earth's Best and have about 3 or 4 large boxes of size 1 and 2 large boxes of wipes. Size 1 is from 8-14 lbs….I wasn't sure if I need to buy NB at all? I know it's hard to say because we won't know until he is here.
My DD was large (9+ lbs) and we skipped the NB diapers all together. So really those just fit in the like under 10lb range which most babies are only in for a week or so.

This is interesting, but I don't know how much I would go off of it. According to this my DS should be in a size 3 or 4 right now (14m old) but he has been in size 5 diapers for quite a while now, probably since 9/10m old.
I never stock piled and having to go get diapers was never a big deal. IDK, I just keep an eye on what I have and when I open the last 1/2 pack in a case I go buy more. I never felt there was a mad rush to go get more.
Ahhh this thread worries me since I was given several packages of newborn diapers (no receipts) and that's apparently more than I need
You should be able to take them to Babies R Us (or anywhere that sells them) and get a credit for them atleast. As long as they are unopened it shouldn't be a problem. Since you already have them though I'd hang on to them for now until you see what you need and what you don't.
@RedFirePhoenix25 i think i spent roughly $200 initially. This includes some larger options (larger prefolds and OS diapers) i plan to make my own detergent to help save money too. We also purchased some disposable diapers in case cloth doesn't suit us/yeast infection happens/trips and probably night time.
We are cloth diapering and will be using only AIOs and pockets. Right now, we have 15 newborn and 12 one size. I plan to get at least 5 more newborn and 8 more one size. (I'm going to be a SAHM so I can do laundry every day if need be.) I would estimate that our initial investment is going to be around $600, but we did get a lot of them as gifts. Either way, that's less than disposables, and we will be able to use them with future babies.
Kawaii Pure and Natural.... get about 20 of them.... wash every other day.... lasts up until about 8 months and I had a big kid. They are cheap and work great! I bought them at sweetbottoms and they have a buy ___ get ___ free deal. I only used pockets with velcro because that is what was easiest for us. Middle of the night diaper changes are easier with velcro (as opposed to snaps). They are the most similar to disposables IMO, which was easy for husband and daycare too.

I have 3 boxes of newborn, 2 boxes of 1, 2 boxes of 2's. All have reciptes taped to them. I figure 7 large boxes will last me through maternity leave I'll just have to exhchang sizes.
I do not even remember. We made out pretty well at DD1's shower that I did not really have to buy any. I went through a ton of NB and size 1 diapers, it slowed down at size 2 I think.
