  DH is a pedi and allergist, and he tells all of his patients to use only Vaseline on baby, whether they have eczema or not. If there's a bad flare up, use a thin layer of steroid cream twice a day. DS has eczema and that's the routine we follow. It definitely does the trick. No need for fancy expensive lotions.

  This.  My co-worker and I both have babies with eczema and we both were prescribed steroid cream and it cleared it right up (both our babies).

  
  

  ETA: I didnt realize how common eczema is in babies, but apparently it is!

  Just got back from our 2 month appt. Baby girl has eczema and we were told to use unscented dove soap, tgel for her hair, and vaseline on her skin after.

  I'm sorry. DD had eczema as a baby, so I know how stressful it can be! As pp have said, Vaseline is good. We've also had good luck with Cerave cream (not lotion) and Aquaphor. Be sure to avoid anything scented as well, and keep in mind your LO may be more at risk for allergies down the road
