stretch marks

Looking for some recommendations for stretch marks creams/lotions?  Didn't really get any with DS but getting a ton with LO.  Don't want to waste money on something that doesn't work so looking for your opinions.

Re: stretch marks

  • I don't think there's much you can do. No lotion or cream can prevent or cure it. It's a genetic thing. They will eventually lighten or might even come close to disappearing.

Try not to worry too much :)

  • Although it is true that there is nothing that can truly prevent or cure stretch marks, I have been using Palmers cocoa butter twice a day. I feel like after continuous use, my stretch marks seem to subside. Plus, putting the lotion/butter on the inside of my thighs really helps with chaffing.

  • As far I have learned from speaking with my dermatologist, there is no cream, lotion or oil that actually works. I had originally asked her about it because my hips are covered in silver stripes from stretch marks that happened when I lost quite a lot of weight in my late teens/early 20s. I use an awesome tanning lotion and it really reduces the appearance of them, but nothing will make them go away. As far as new ones with this pregnancy, I've just been using sweet almond oil on my belly in the shower to keep moisturized and because it feels good!

  • My mom was covered completely in stretch marks her entire pregnancy, and I haven't had a single one. Although I'm not holding my breath at coming out unscathed, I've been pretty proactive so far about staying hydrated, applying Bio-Oil twice a day (although I did switch to cocoa butter twice daily at around 30 weeks), eating well, and staying relatively active. I also loofah my skin each day in the shower. Mostly the routine just keeps my skin from feeling dry and it's nice.

Granted, my mom gained 75 pounds in her pregnancy, ate whatever the hell she wanted, and didn't give one single poop about exercise. My grandmother did the same thing and got huge. So who knows. Maybe they weren't genetically predisposed but their skin lacked the elasticity needed to stave off the marks from their lifestyle choices.

But lol, I'll prob be back here in like 2 weeks like "guise I have 73 stretch marks ugh."

  • I already had some on my belly. At 31 weeks they are getting way worse. I've lotioned my belly twice each day anyways but I'm kinda just getting over it.
  • I use Palmers. I already had some on my inner thighs from my teen years, now they have blown up like crazy and go all the way down to my knees. Some days they look darker than others and when I put that lotion on it seems like they fade for a little bit (until the lotion wears off). I have a few on my sides also. I just lather in that lotion every night before bed.

  • I use bio-oil in the PM and Arbonne firming cream in the AM.  I had friends who told me they used one of these products each their entire pregnancies and didn't get any stretch marks, so my thought is if I use both I should be double protected right?  Not sure it works that way, I have a feeling it had more to do with how active they both were, but it can't hurt.  The Arbonne cream is expensive, but it feels SO GOOD on my dry skin, and helps with itching so to me it's worth it anyway.  I am 34+ weeks and no stretch marks yet so fingers crossed!

  • Coconut oil feels great, helps with itching and keeps the skin soft! Also it has really helped my marks fade fast...

Started TTC in 2006, LOTS of trying, and trying, and 7 rounds of IVF with 13 embryos, 2 perfect little boys and 5 loses....
All finished with babies, started to make diet changes, Keto, to be MORE for my kids, lost 30 pounds, still going, and 3 months in, I had a natural cycle, and then ovulated... Hubs and I are going to see what happens now... Maybe a natural pregnancy? After everything we have been through? Or just a return to normal hormones? We shall see what the future holds!
