Re: June Bugs Check-In for June 24th!
ETA: Argh. Why aren't my tags working???
***Losses mentioned.*** TTC #1 since May 2012. Me: 37, OH: 41. Ectopic August 2012 => tubal damage.
I'm just waiting on AF. Have to schedule a follow up appointment with the RE but I've been dragging my feet a bit. At this point she just sounds like Charlie Brown's mother (womp wompwompwomp womp womp). I need to go there to get my records from last cycle anyway, so we will plan to do both at once. I've got a nurse call with a new RE next week and our appt with him is mid July, but DH is traveling and can't go. Do you guys think it's ok if I go to the consult by myself? (I usually do most of the talking anyway!)
QOTD: I have ninja-like talent in plumbing. I can fix faucets, install toilets and shower fixtures. Not a useful party trick but I'm practical!
2013: BFP #1 - M/C 3/13
2015: Dance break = got healthy
7/2016: IVF #5 = BFP!!!
I broke down and took a FR/ER HPT this morning (10dp3dt) and it was negative. I had just started letting myself hope and believe it would work this time and had convinced myself that the mild cramping and headaches were positive signs. I know I'm not entirely out of the game, yet, but AF would be due this Friday (if not all messed up from the progesterone and estrogen meds) and beta is Monday.
Going to call and try and schedule the WTF (they may not want to schedule it since I'm doing that before negative beta), since it can take several weeks to get in and I want to see if it is possible to cycle again in August. Originally I wanted to take more time off, but right now I'm feeling like I want to jump back in, if possible, and there are some timing issues I'm trying to work with.
Oh, and I feel like an idiot, because we didn't do the shared risk program and three IVFs was the break-even point, so any future IVFs (up to the six covered under that program) are going to hurt more financially. And the study that my RE thought we could get into stopped accepting new patients.
And the second worst thing about all this is that I'm fat for the summer with nothing to show for it. None of my cute summer dresses fit and I feel awful in a swimsuit.
Sorry for the novella, I don't have anyone else to share this with. My husband wants to believe it is just too soon to test and keeps saying "it has to work" which is not helpful.

@Carol77B I'm so sorry. I hate this crap. None of it's fair or even makes sense. I would go ahead and schedule an appt with the re now so you don't have to wait that long. None of my clothes fit either and we head to the beach on Thursday I'm still so bloated.
I'm officially PUPO although my hopes are crap for this cycle. We transferred two on a 3dt yesterday one was a 6 cell showing abnormalities and one a 4 cell. I burst into tears in the transfer room. Then we found out that the rest of my hubs sperm was used for this last shitty cycle so when we want to cycle again he has to have surgery again which is a other 3 grand and more time off of work for both of us. So the earliest we can start again is August or September. I'm tired of being pumped full of meds and hoping for the best. I've lost faith in my Re. I feel like a science experiment. We are oop so we did the shared risk at shady grove so I have no clue where to even go from here. I'm so bloated and just down in the dumps. Going through the motions but knowing that I doubt it will work.
QOTD: I can grow pretty much anything. Flowers and veggies. I guess I don't come off as a girl that digs in the dirt? Lol
Good luck to everyone who is testing early

@justone13 thanks you. I'm hopeful for you, though I know how hard it is when you feel nothing is working out like it should for ideal results.
@vpine FX for your beta on Friday!!!
@ikrystal I hope it was too early for you to test.
scooteriste I'm torn about getting a second opinion. I love my OB/GYN and he highly recommended my RE (sent his second wife and best friend's daughter to him). Their stats are great and he ran extensive testing after IVF #2 and has changed things up enough and that I'm leaning to it being bad luck (though I feel like I shouldn't count my second IVF, since it just seemed like one thing went wrong after the other- starting with low AFC and then I was accidently a day late starting stimming while on the micro-dose Lupron, and I was under a huge amount of stress at the time, etc.).
pblge 's improved response at her new fancypants RE in NYC, so I guess it isn't out of the question.
Also, another plus for sticking is that my insurance is currently covering most of cost of diagnostics and SGF is charging me the lower insurance rate, even though I have to pay 100%, which has saved me $4,000 off each individual IVF cycle. I don't know that I would get that at a new place, since my insurance has already flip-flopped on my coverage, and I'm worried if I have to get a new authorization number, they will quit covering even the diagnostics.
Since originally this was supposed to be a MFI issue, since my DH's vasovasectomy was only partially successful, I'm making my DH go back to his urologist to see if there is anything else he can do at his end to improve quality/quantity. We have had lower than expected fertilization rates 2/3 times and our embryos seem to do good until day three and then start having problems (and nothing ever makes it to freeze), so I want to explore that more. I did some Googling last night and he has an treated varicocele and I'm wondering if that could be contributing to his issues. Unfortunately, I've struggled to get him to do even basic stuff like switch to looser fitting underwear and take supplements because he keeps thinking the ICSI/PICSI will solve any issues with poor quality/quantity, but I think I've convinced him it is worth him talking to his doctor after (what looks like) three failures.
Just scheduled the WTF for 7/15, which is a lot sooner than I thought and would put me on track to be able to cycle again in August (if we max out my no interest credit card).
Argh! Sorry for the even longer novella!

@scooteriste I think it's fine to go to a consult appointment alone! My husband avoids appointments when he can, so I usually go alone.
@Carol77B so sorry for the BFN. I hope it's too soon!! I'm in the DC metro area, too, and I can't imagine going to any of these other clinics. My other consultation (Dominion) was such a disaster, and every other clinic has worse stats.
@Justone13 It's so hard to feel disillusioned with your RE.
@vpine My fingers are crossed for you. Beta or bust is admirable!
@ikrystal I hope it's just way too early for you. Good luck.
@gnl42 that is so frustrating! I hope the Viagra gets you there ASAP.
I am doing a freeze all, @pblge! All 10 of our embryos are still going strong as of this morning. They'll be biopsied for PGS on days 5 and 6, so I will not hear anything until Friday. Ugh! I'm a nervous wreck all ready! Not sure how I am going to get through the wait for our results.
Since I really need to lose weight, I'm delaying my next FET until September to hopefully lose 20lbs. If we have normal embryos, anyway...
My hidden talent is writing. I absolutely hate it, but I can bang out large pieces of writing in short amounts of time. Research papers are my favorite things to see on a syllabus.

IVF #2 June 2014: 24R/11M/10F 6 PGS tested: 1 normal embryo, 1 with no result
FET #3 in March 2015: 2 transferred = BFFN
I'm really sorry for those who have had a rough few days, hugs to everyone that needs them.
I am on day 10 of stims. I went in for an u/s today, and I had about 10-12 follicles above 10, the majority on the left side. I have to go in tomorrow for another u/s tomorrow... so hopefully I am close!
QOTD: I only have one hidden talent and I was told in college never to speak of it, haha. So I have nothing.

@Carol77b - ((hugs)) I hope it's too early. I'm a HUGE fan of second opinions right now, even if I'm not yet pregnant. Feel free to PM me if you want info, although it sounds like you have an insurance conundrum. You might call and ask if they provide coverage for new patient consults anyway--mine covers one per year. I'm fat for swimsuit season, too, but now I can run today-whoohoo!!!
@ExoticAntibiotic - Those who are between cycles now could consider joining our FU IF fitness check-in! It's really awesome, and a very supportive group. I was soooooo happy I joined up before this last IVF.
@ikrystal - Good luck! I think that IS early from what I read.
@gnl42 - (((hugs))) Your uterus needs to GET IN LINE!!! Are you trying all the food stuff that might help? I've been reading a little in prep for my first FET, and there are whole lists out there....
@dreambig1021 - YAY for the new job!!! Congrats!
@KT416 - Very intriguing. My mind went straight to rolling joints or similar, but maybe that was only my college experience. ;-)
@Sigh202 - ((hugs)) Good luck with beta!
I'm just a girl waiting for a boy to call. Sigh.

Hello ladies...
I have my fingers crossed for everyone still in limbo! And hugs for those who need them.
AFM, I had that +HPT, but as per usual almost instantly started to bleed...and that +HPT is almost not existent now. Appears another CP.
I suspect I'll have a follow up with my RE and see if there is further testing we can do since I have 2 frozen for an FET, and then we are done.
Pamela
@vpine, I've got FX for you - there's no way I could wait!
@dreambig1021 Congrats on the job! That has to be a major stress relief!
Congrats to the other gals on PUPOs, and hugs to those who need them (I want to send more than hugs, like, punches to the faces of people they hate, or something.)
AFM, I triggered last night, vagiscan this morning showed 6 in my left, 3 in my right, with the largest at a fatty 25! ER is tomorrow. I am dreading it and can't wait for it to be over. I'm not very hopeful, but I wish I was. I don't know if that will make the letdown easier or not. Maybe nothing makes it easier.
QOTD: What's your secret talent that might even surprise some of your friends? E.g., are you a ninja?
I am NOT a ninja. I also have no fun special talent. I must work on that.

I got a BFP yesterday at 5dp5dt, it was light but obviously there. Slightly darker today, feeling fullness and cramping in my uterus and very full/mildly sore boobs. I am not jumping up and down, am not really even allowing the BFP to matter yet after having these symptoms and 2 days of +'s last year with an FET. Would be devastating to have that happen again. Beta on Saturday!
Ninja skill: I make a mean Thanksgiving dinner, all homemade, for 20+ people and usually on NO sleep (I work night shift)!
@BornThisWay - Whoohoo! FX for a great beta!
@tabbytown - ((hugs)) Hope the stims end soon!
@Carol77 - The nurse actually recommended I NOT use the applicators because they can irritate. I never tried it that way, though.
@Chucktgirl - Good luck tomorrow! Come back and tell us how it went!
Finally heard from my doc! He said he think I'm just in the unlucky 35% for whom the perfect blast doesn't take, although he did recommend transferring two for next round. No other testing or treatment at this time, although might make changes if the next cycle is also a BFN. I have to talk to the IVF coordinator about scheduling, but I'm hoping I can start right away. He also said I can stop taking Metformin, which is SUPER exciting, even if I've finally adjusted to it now. Hmmm...maybe I'll ask if coming off of it is as hard as going on it.
***Losses mentioned.*** TTC #1 since May 2012. Me: 37, OH: 41. Ectopic August 2012 => tubal damage.
Thanks everyone for your advice about the consult. DH likes to be involved and informed. Our plan is to make a list of questions together and I will write down the answers and discuss with him after the meeting. We are both looking for a new protocol and to be treated less like this is a "numbers game" vs the fact that we are patients with legitimate medical concerns. I can totally relate to your concerns @Carol77B, I have a lot of the same worries. For me leaving feels like Stockholm syndrome or something!

I am smack in the middle of the 2ww, beta is on Monday 6/30. We have a bunch of family events Thursday, Friday, Saturday so I will probably wait to test until Saturday/Sunday so if its negative I can have some peace and not be expected to go out and be around people.
QOTD: I have special skills in recognizing faces. Once I see you I won't forget you. I see people all the time and think, I know you from somewhere! and it drives me a little batty. I probably saw them in the grocery store once or something.

@scooteriste yes, I had to go to my WTF consult before IVF without DH and it was perfectly fine. Filled him in later.
@Carol77B @ Justone13 @Sigh202 @ikrystal @BornThisWay @shelbeans82 @Mozarella13 FX for you all!
@dreambig1021 Good luck on your transfer tomorrow and congrats on the new job!
@vpine Good luck on your beta! I couldn't hold out that long. Good for you!
@chucktgirl good luck at ER!
FX for everybody else and hugs to those who need them!
My transfer is scheduled for tomorrow a.m. I had one last u/s yesterday that showed there was still a little fluid in my uterus so my RE went ahead and drained it. He said it was a small amount, but made him feel better. Great, I feel better too. I had that happen during stims before ER too. Why the heck is that happening? Never happened before my partial salpingectomy. Ugh!!
QOTD: I guess maybe cooking?

so my beta went from 11 to 20.4! I'm still bleeding though a lot less than I was, and RE is going to add PIO since my progesterone is low and the endometrin didn't seem to stop the bleeding. I'm having another beta Friday, and I'm going to try to be cautiously optimistic for the time being. For right now, I'm pregnant...and even if this doesn't stick, I know it's possible and those damn pee sticks aren't broken!!
