Decrease in symptoms

Any ladies out there noticing a decrease in symptoms around 9 weeks? Weeks 6, 7, and first part of 8 were killer but things have died down.. Boobs not as sore, not as regularly tired, nausea is better (although I've realized how to manage it)...

Am I just paranoid? Or should I say yippee for now?

My first doctor appointment is Friday so I am just so nervous about everything because besides my symptoms and a blood test over a month ago I have no real evidence of this pregnancy.

Re: Decrease in symptoms

  • I have noticed my symptoms coming and going a little bit in the last week or so. I say celebrate! I don't think symptoms/no symptoms is an indication of the health of a pregnancy.

I know how you feel, though. The first trimester is really hard because, aside from the yucky symptoms, you don't (or I don't) feel pregnant. I remember the second tri being way more fun last time around. You start to have a legit belly, and you start feeling kicks, and the news is out and you're less nervous in general.

  • Yep. Since 9 weeks, my symptoms have been coming and going. Some days I feel perfectly fine, other days I feel really sick and I get so bloated at night.

  • It's normal to for symptoms to decrease or even disappear as the placenta takes over supporting the pregnancy and you closer to the 2nd tri.

  • Thanks for posting!  My symptoms have been coming and going since 9 weeks.  I should be happy on "good" days but it really just makes me nervous.

  • I felt really good weeks 9 and 10, which was good because I was on vacation. Week 11 has been a doozy so far. Return of the symptoms worse than they've ever been

  • Yeah I'm the same way. Since 9 weeks things have been milder, but not quite gone. My Pgal brain has been making me nervous, so it's a relief to know this is "normal" or common enough to merit it's own thread :)
  • I would say be happy...I am at 10 weeks and my symptoms have taken a back burner on my daily life which i can not complain about. I have my random days that things pipe up but then its gone within a couple hours.

    @JEMondy I understand the PGAL mind...happy thoughts!

  • I am with you, 9w and symptoms have been on the downside for the last week or so. I was worried, but figured I should just feel blesssed. So I am thanking bebe for giving me a break. But if s/he keeps demanding these crazy foods I am going to get fat!!
  • This exactly for me.  During week 8 my nausea slowly improved, but very tired still.  8w 6d, I went to bed with a very sore chest, and work up 9w and feel fabulous.  No sore boobs, high energy, don't feel pregnant at all.  I've been worried, but it feels better to read others experiencing the same.

My husband helps me to find the humour in it - after trying for so long and experiencing previous loss, when I have symptoms (i.e. cramps) I'm worried something's wrong, but then as soon as they go away, I worry that the lack of symptoms is a bad sign as well.

I have been getting headaches and tailbone pain this week.  I'm going to ask the doctor about it at my appointment tomorrow.

  • I just started to notice a decrease in my symptoms yesterday at 11 weeks. My appetite is slowly coming back and yahooooo my sex drive is back! ;)

  • Enjoy the decrease in symptoms. Mine went away for a few days then came back with a vengeance. Remember, symptoms or lack of symptoms don't relate to the health of your pregnancy. Just relax and enjoy. Friday is so close!
Same happened to me. I had 3-4 days of awesomeness last week, and now I can eat hardly anything again. I did have a craving for a sausage and egg burrito from McD's this morning, so I got that, and also a biscuit with sausage gravy somehow ended up on my order. They were surprisingly delicious on my flip-floppy stomach.

  • Mine have been better for about the last week too - at least more good times than bad times. I'm taking it while I can get it in case it comes back! Still super tired and the bloating is worse...it doesn't help that I've already gained 4 pounds...but it's better than the constantly debilitating nausea.

Symptoms have started to decrease. Still tired and still have some bouts of nausea. Usually nauseous if I let my stomach get empty or if I eat too much.

  • Yes! My symptoms improved this week (week 10) out of nowhere and I am with you, almost can't help but worry.  I was horribly sick weeks 6-9.

  • I'll be 11 weeks on Thursday and I've had a decline in my typical symptoms and some have been replaced with new craziness (heart burn and headaches) . I'm slowly getting my energy back but I'm still staring at the calendar waiting on that twelve week appointment.
  • I'm jealous on K's behalf - her symptoms have just been getting worse each week.  The had watermelon for dinner, and I had to wait until she had left the dinner table to each my chicken b/c it made her feel so awful.  Poor puppy.

Confused. Are you posting for your wife??
  • Thank you all! I feel much better knowing I am not the only one experiencing this, even my fears! I am just going to utilize my feelings of normalness and hope I have braved through the storm of icky first trimester symptoms. I am however experiencing an increase in headaches so I suppose it is a trade off for now.

  • That sounds about normal since your hormone levels have peaked in week 9 and will continue to fall after that. I find that as soon as I think it's getting better I will have a really bad day and be sick as a dog. I would say don't worry and enjoy being symptom free for a bit. With my sons I was for the most part symptom free and it was nerve wrecking but they are healthy.

  • Glad other people have the same, started to feel normal again last week (week 8) boobs less sore, hardly any nausea and felt like I could do things without having a break half way through! However bam, woke up yesterday (week 9) full of cold, totally exhausted, sore boobs again and full on nausea all through the day! Other half is worried and wants me to go to the doctors, I'm just pleased I have symptoms again saying that would love the cold to go away!
  • Yes, is my understanding that at 9 weeks the placenta begins to take over and its not just hormones anymore, and thus the reason most of us begin to feel better at 9 weeks!

  • Some of my previous symptoms have gone away. My nausea's gone way down, and my boobs aren't quite as tender. However, exhaustion and headaches have hit really REALLY hard. Thank goodness I can work from home and sit around in a t-shirt and underwear most of the day.

  • I was feeling better when 9 weeks hit, but now I'm sick as ever. I feel kind of dumb for complaining about it now. It does seem that when I can distract myself I feel better. But I was nearly 20 weeks before my morning sickness went away with dd2 so I'm afraid this will be another long road for me.
  • Almost 10 weeks and the worst of the symptoms are gone except for at night.  I'm just going to plan for this to stick, lol.

  • I would definitely say my symptoms have died down at 10 weeks. Thankful for now (since I has an ultrasound yesterday! )
