croup cough?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-Rxh3Ytf0Y&feature=youtu.be

Does this sound like a barking cough to y'all?
No fever.
She is congested & the coughing seems  to get worse when she is laying flat.

Pedi said unless there is fever or labored breathing to wait it out,
I'm in freak out mommy mode.

I googled croup treatments...so far I just see humidifiers.
  • My son had croup over the winter. The pedi had him go outside (wrapped in blankets) for a little while. In the summer, maybe try having him/her stand in front of the freezer? We also used a humidifier, which helped and I think he got some meds or a breathing treatment the next day, although I'm not positive. He did not have a fever either and was mostly okay during the day--it was mostly a middle of the night thing.

  • I've got her on an incline now. It seems to be helping. She is finally asleep after a long fight. I'll call the doc again tomorrow. The cough sounds so awful. :(
  • DD just got over it. Steamy shower helped, hold them up so they get the most steam. I also held her in front of the freezer. But if it is croup they need steroids to get over it.

  • We did the shower thing about thirty min ago. No barking coughs since.... She is sound asleep now. Hoping she can get some rest.
  • Doc says as of now we are croup free! Just a nasty cold. Vicks and lots of rest are in our future if little bit will sit still long enough.
